Background
London is one of the world’s business and finance hubs but it faces many challenges. Prosperous but facing growing levels of poverty and inequality. Relatively clean and green but with a massive footprint on environmental and social conditions of people around the world.
The second City Portrait looks at London through Doughnut Economics’ four lenses - Local Social, Local Ecological, Global Ecological, and Global Social.
In this session, we will look through our findings to paint a portrait of how London stands against key indicators of the social foundations of a good life for all and the ecological ceiling of a healthy planet.
And we will offer some pointers towards how London’s economy could be redesigned for a regenerative, equitable and resilient future inside the Doughnut.

After 20 years as a senior programme manager at PwC, most recently leading PwC's Social Value Transformation, and in the context of a Climate and Nature Crisis that is unfurling right now, I want to help build a regenerative world. A world where human connection and experiences are valued more than consumption and materialism, and where our species can live in a regenerative way with nature and the environment. I see Donut Economics as a fundamental part of how we do this as a species.
