60-90 minutes: City & Neighbourhood practical exchanges in breakout rooms (optional)

Feel free to join for whichever part you like.

Background

London is one of the world's great cities. A global hub of finance, culture and ideas. It is also a city of deepening inequality, ecological overshoot, and communities carrying costs that rarely appear in any balance sheet.

The second London City Portrait looks at London honestly and in full. Drawing on Doughnut Economics' four lenses — Local Social, Local Ecological, Global Social and Global Ecological — it maps where London falls short of the social foundations every Londoner deserves, and where it breaches the ecological ceilings the planet depends on. It also points towards what a regenerative, equitable and resilient London economy could look like. We will also offer some pointers towards how London’s economy could be redesigned for a regenerative, equitable and resilient future inside the Doughnut.

This webinar is the first public airing of the Portrait brought together in partnership with the Doughnut Action Lab (DEAL).

We will also:

  • share LDEC's neighbourhood pilot work and new website, and open an honest conversation about what scaled action requires
  • Hear from DEAL on how Doughnut Economics is being applied in practice at city and neighbourhood level, with space for questions
  • Exchange across cities and neighbourhoods in facilitated breakout rooms — bring your context, your questions, and what's working where you are!

This is an event for practitioners, policymakers, community organisers, researchers and anyone working to make London a better place to live.
