Taking DE to Schools & Education: The Journey So Far!
Join us to celebrate Doughnut Economics Schools & Education community in action around the world.

About the session
Join us to celebrate the journey of the Doughnut Economics foundational tools for Schools and Education so far. Hear from teachers and learners around the world who are already using them and get started in your own place!
This session will be an opportunity to:
- Get the latest overview of the S&E theme, tools, and news.
- Listen to experiences and examples of S&E's community around the world and discuss what is being learned. This year's panellists include teachers, young people, and organisations in learning spaces:
- Maia Bristol, Sustainability Lead and Teacher at St Gilgen International School, Austria. "Currently completing an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation, I meld regenerative practice with education to support young people in becoming empowered change-makers. Transformational system change requires opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, and collaboration across schools and communities, locally and globally. My work focuses on real-world experiences and breaking down barriers to shared action. Our Climate Solutions Conference 2025, underpinned by DEAL, reflects my commitment to positive, solutions-focused storytelling."
- Daniel Gutiérrez Patiño, Shambala Comunidad Ambiental founder, Colombia. "I seek to contribute to the transformation of paradigms that we need to face the ecological crisis. Doughnut economics and the tools and frameworks of DEAL have been fundamental to guide my vision and practice with schools, companies and citizens. They have allowed me to put in simple but profound language accessible to multiple audiences the powerful ideas of the paradigm shift that I work for. Shambala Founder & CEO. MSc University of Oxford Environmental Change and Management. One Young World Speaker Ambassador. Up/Link World Economic Forum Top Entrepreneur. Premio Cemex Tec.
- Isa Moorman, Industrial Design master student, Netherlands.
"In my design practice, I want to create moments of reflection. My ambition is to contribute to the systemic change needed for humanity to live within Doughnut boundaries, by helping people become aware and make better choices.
My most recent research project at Eindhoven University of Technology, was a reflection tool based on the Doughnut Economics model. It revealed the internal conflicts design students face when imagining their future careers and confronting the societal and ecological impact of their ambitions. Useful learning experiences for youth and beyond!" - Daisy Hainsworth, Undergraduate Economics student, UK.
I am an undergraduate BSc (Hons) Economics student at Loughborough University. Within my role as Economics School Representative, I organised a collaborative workshop with Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL), with the support of the student experience team at Loughborough Business School. During our journey students were introduced to the core principles of Doughnut Economics and completed activities to combine their subject knowledge of economics, finance, and business with sustainable and regenerative practices. Useful learning experiences for youth and beyond! - Natalia Van Der Wee, Director of Global Programme at MasterPeace Organisation, Worldwide.
- Share an open, exploratory space with teachers, educators, young people from around the world, and learn from each other about how the education space is transforming, what drives successful collaborations, and how to take action if you haven’t!
