I sometimes say that I'm not an urban planner interested in sustainability but rather a sustainability nerd who chose urban planning as field of work in order to get as far as possible towards sustainability. I learned about the doughnut when studying in London in 2015, tried to use it as framework in various urban planning projects in Sweden the years following that. Now trying again, love to see that the community has grown so much! Hoping to learn to internalise the 7 ways in what I do. I might contribute with knowledge and know-how of urban planning, project management and workshop facilitation.

I am a molecular biologist by training, and over time my scientific background naturally expanded into science communication, where I focus on making complex ideas accessible and engaging—especially through climate science presentations and STEMM talks for students in schools and colleges. Alongside science, I am deeply passionate about social justice and the belief that environmental issues cannot be separated from equity, access, and community wellbeing. What draws me to the DEAL community is its ability to bring ecological and social justice together under one umbrella, offering a thoughtful framework for imagining and building a more just, sustainable world. DEAL resonates with me because it aligns with both how I understand science and how I want to contribute to society—by educating, engaging, and empowering the next generation to care for people and the planet together.

As a Strategist and Coach, I come alongside founders and to navigate with clarity, courage and intention. My work centres on championing leaders to live, lead and build well, shaping and that is healthy, and oriented towards long-term value and . Working globally, I am interested in how systems, tools and frameworks can be adapted in practice to support real transformation within complex organisational and social contexts. Within this learning community, I look forward to gaining practical approaches I can thoughtfully integrate into my work. As a practitioner working closely with people inside systems, to support both inner shifts in and external shifts affecting I am keen to participate in a like-minded community of practice, learning how others have adapted DEAL tools in their own fields, exchanging practical wisdom, and exploring how these approaches can support more and life-giving ways of living, leading and building enterprises.

Roughly 4 years ago, I realized that the paradigm of unending economic growth was destroying the planet and communities worldwide. It has taken me far too long to find or begin a local DEAL community, but I am now commited to growing the Doughnut Economics paradigm in my region. My goal is to work together with local community groups and share concepts, tools, workshops, and policies that I learn here. If anyone is in Rochester, NY - let's connect in person and brainstorm more ways to get involved. You can find me by name on Facebook or Bluesky @dia4life.

Hello Change Makers! I’m a NYC and DC based strategic CPG marketing leader and brand storyteller who operates at the intersection of marketing, social impact, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, guiding purpose-driven companies—from startups to Fortune 500s—on how to connect deeply with conscious consumers. I hold an MBA in Sustainability and have volunteered with We ACT for Environmental Justice, Marketplace of the Future, and am a member/mentor with Clean Creatives. Through my boutique consultancy, Copy Color and Cause, I help ethical, sustainable, and culturally resonant brands, creatives and non-profit leaders solve problems such as: 1. Brand Misalignment & Identity Gaps I help brands articulate their values, voice, and visual identity in ways that are both emotionally resonant and market-ready. 2. Ineffective or Outdated Marketing Strategies I modernize campaigns through AI-powered tools, inclusive messaging, and multi-channel content that drive both influence and revenue. 3. Lack of Social/Environmental Accountability I guide companies on how to authentically integrate sustainability, DEI, and circular economy principles into their business models and brand story. 4. Audience Disconnect I connect brands with underserved and overlooked audiences, helping them expand reach, loyalty, and long-term equity through precise and inclusive messaging. 5. Creative & Cultural Blind Spots Whether it's CPG, beauty, tech, or social enterprises, I ensure cultural sensitivity, representation, and authenticity are not afterthoughts—but embedded in the creative process.

I've used the Doughnut Economics thinking to design The Public Plate - a framework for scaling Public Restaurants that rebuild our social connections. 💪 Purpose Our mission is clear: widening access to nutritious meals outside of the home, built on our need for social connection and belonging. But the PURPOSE of the Public Plate as an organisation is to enable that to happen, which is why the model starts commercially rather than rely on state subsidy. Public partnership is achieved only if the model proves its value. Designing regeneratively means avoiding dependency on any single body. ⚖️ Governance We're exploring Steward Ownership (a model we're learning about from PURPOSE®) to separate control from capital to protect the mission long-term. Decision making is kept equitable with Steward representation from all stakeholders. 🤵 Ownership Ownership shouldn’t be limited to those with wealth or networks. Our franchisees will earn ownership through performance, not privilege, borrowing from Everytable’s Social Equity Franchise approach. The people who create value should share in it. 👛 Finance Patient investment supports the early high-risk stage. A Social Impact Fund then provides low-interest loans to franchisees. As sites repay those loans, surplus capital gradually repays early investors and strengthens the system’s ability to support new operators. 🤝 Networks: Public Restaurants are designed to sit within a wider food ecosystem, working directly with growers. Our central hubs will take on some of the heavier food preparation and processing work, one of the biggest bottlenecks for small ecological farms, helping to support ecological producers and strengthen local supply chains. What's Next... We need pilots: to learn whether the operational model holds up and also whether people will genuinely choose Public Restaurants over existing dining habits. If the evidence shows real public benefit, that’s what unlocks partnership with local authorities, and importantly, that partnership could be open to any restaurant willing to adopt the approach.

My undoing began in Argentina in the summer of 2022. On a study abroad hosted by the U of U's Honors College I was given three books - The Open Veins of Latin America, The Divide, and Marx's Ecology. I've been craving to engage in this world ever since. As an Anthropology major my career path was finite - PHD or sell out, and after years in Corporate Finance I made a pivot back to academia where I finally had the engagement I was craving. At Duke University I was able to find environmental economics, micro economics and none of them sat right. I'd ask questions that would oft be poopooed by the professor as if the inquisition itself was an inconvenience to their cram packed lecture schedule. That's when I was able to find my political economy peeps - course on liberatory economics, feminist economics, collective action and participatory/behavioral economics, fed my soul up! Then Della Duncan had Andrew Fanning on - and the dots started to connect. I had already enrolled in my final semester of this masters, one last hoorah! My schedule came down to Well-Being Economics or Climate Finance - and I was told that the skills in the finance world were unmatched, extremely sought after, and the better course - but I chose differently. The textbook is doughnut economics, the chapters we are assigned consume me, and I tend to finish the whole book. I feel like a junkie who's found my drug - but similarly with no direction or home in the job market. Excuse my longwinded response, but I would love some help in learning more, tools to apply, or ways to intervene in the system that are impactful. Advice, coffee, what ever it is - I'm hoping to connect with some like minded people, it's lonely out here.

I am a retired IT/Business Consultant (BA, MBA, MIMC, CMC). I studied History & Politics at Lancaster and Business at Leeds. I started in engineering, moved to retail and then consulting. I have worked for large and small companies. I have lived in Leeds since 1984. I would like to link up with people in leeds for ideas sharing, discussions and support. I am interested the paradigm shift that is needed to transform society. In my writing I describe this change to political economy as follows; politics from winner take all to a collective quest for good governance, and economically from profit maximisation the creation of the common wealth. In ecological terms that would equate to a move from parasitism to something more sustainable (so at least comensual/communal). The idea of personal sufficiency and collective wealth appeals. The question is twofold (1) how to bring about the paradigm shift (or add weight to it as its starting spontaneously) and (2) then what happens - this is likely to be difficult, contested and critical because history especially with regard to revolutions is far from encouraging. PS. I appear as an artist on linked in because I paint as a hobby since my retirement
