Member April Taylor Lexington, KY, US April Taylor is a Black queer Appalachian organizer. She has served as an Economics and Governance program manager at the Highlander Research and Education Center where she developed curriculum and provided accompaniment to grassroots groups in the South doing solidarity economy work. She has been involved in grassroots organizing for more than two decades working at the intersection of racial and economic justice. She is a co-founder of the Wild Fig Books & Coffee worker cooperative, Kentucky’s only Black owned bookstore. She also helped lead the push by Lexington citizens to make unprecedented changes to local police accountability and transparency and helped lay the groundwork for Lexington to elect more Black women to local offices during the 2022 election cycle than any other point in the city’s history. She serves on the Governance Council of the Southern Movement Assembly and has supported Movement for Black Lives work to catalyze solidarity economy organizing. April consistently holds space for impacted people to exchange knowledge and resources and to collectively dream and organize to use cooperative economics to meet each other’s basic needs and move beyond the exploitative white supremacist capitalist patriarchy towards liberation for all people. When she’s not building community and working towards liberation, she enjoys spending time at the Moonbow in Cumberland Falls and connecting with nature.

Member Christian Mooney London Art, writing, and culture are not, and do not need to be about entertainment and commerce, about making one's way in society. They can be a mode of relating to each other that takes its cues from friendship, from engaging each other as separate and related people committed to each other in mutual support and protection. Excerpt: Fred Dewey ‘a polis for new conditions’ For over 15 years my mission has been to support progressive creativity and art. I value practices where artists innovate and take risks, either in their form, subject or modes of social engagement. My gallery business Arcade initially took the form of a traditional commercial gallery but true creativity is not sustainable in today’s climate dictated by economic and market forces. How then to support these important and necessary practices? And how to address art’s impact on society which can only happen with a truly democratic and inclusive audience? These two questions and the communities they represent are deeply entwined. To answer them we are in the process of refining our business model - a gallery and event space with a kitchen - which will use food as a form of care, inclusivity, social glue, and revenue stream that can answer these questions in mutually reinforcing and beneficial ways: A pioneering Art Galley & Kitchen with an international programme of exhibitions and a constantly evolving platform of performances, live events, talks and publications with local community reach using food as a form of care, inclusivity and social glue.

Member Yogesh Prasad United Kingdom Vocational training transforms lives and drives economic growth in developing countries. It equips individuals with the practical skills and knowledge needed to secure employment, start businesses, and contribute to their community’s development. Through our work, we constantly explore the significance of vocational training in developing countries and its positive impact on individuals, communities, and overall socio-economic progress. Our direction is genetic analysis testing verticals in Agriculture, Human Identification (Forensic DNA), and quality and safety testing (environmental, food and water). To achieve this goal, SSG-CIC aims to establish Vocational Training Hubs (VTHs) across the globe and build local capacity for training and development. All of this is possible with your support and volunteering. How you can support us? Our fundraising is through 4 main routes: 1. Non Profit Consulting 2. Crowdfunding 3. Volunteer and Work with us 4. Donate used laboratory equipment, IT Gear and Software For more information, visit our website: https://ssg-cic.org
