Wisdom Hunter. I have been pursuing the root causes of our divided world for over thirty years. At first my pursuit was negative, what I did not like and what I did not want. Then, about ten years ago my thinking shifted to joining communities like DEAL who have the power to transform and co-create a "more beautiful world our hearts know is possible." From the love of power to the power of love. I am a teacher, counselor, father, grandfather, and partner. My life is dedicated to placing people and planet at the center of our efforts in co-creating the world I/we want.

I operate in the Blue Economy, bringing people together to better understand and shape the interface between science, policy, management and delivery on the ground for sustainable marine resource management. I seek creative, strategic and practical tools with which to measure progress toward sustainable management, as well as guide decisions and action.

I'm a member of the compost religion which means I love natures ability to cycle resources. Our present situation needs personal change - like simple living, shared land trusts, yoga and meditation plus policy change - like running for office, helping candidates, direct nonviolent action.

I'm a campaigner and strategist who believes the time is ripe for radical shifts in our economies and am excited to see the doughnut being put into practice all around the world. I have lead global campaigns for nearly 15 years and until recently lead Oxfam's global campaign on food and climate justice, GROW where Kate Raworth launched the first Doughnut discussion paper in 2012. I'm now part of a new collective of great thinkers and practitioners from different sectors who like to come together to codesign solutions to complex problems - Better By Codesign.

After a career as a Project Manager, Management Consultant, Chartered Accountant and Computer Scientist, I retired in 2020, around the start of the COVID pandemic. For the past year, I have taken the time to convert from a more than full time work life to spending time with my family and researching topics of interest. Originally I am from The Netherlands, where I lived in The Hague and Amsterdam, but worked around the country with regular business travels to the UK and USA. Since 1979, my family and I live in New Zealand, where I have developed a deep appreciation for the environment and nature. I am very passionate to convert ideas into implementable actions, which I can now do without any commercial motives.

During my 10 years working in the fitness industry both in New Zealand and London, UK, I was constantly trying to help people with the same physical problems (sore backs and necks, fatigue, and stress). I would do all I could to help them physically but the issue was bigger. Their lifestyles were out of balance. And the more I thought about the more I came to the conclusion that there is something fundamentally wrong with our economic system. My travels through South East Asia, the Americas, and Europe showed to me that this problem was a global problem. The inequalities I experienced and the environmental destruction I saw first-hand motivated me to do more to help. On my return to Aotearoa New Zealand, I took the plunge and changed careers. I started by working for a start-up compostable packaging business which was my doorway into sustainability, and circular economy thinking. I am now the founder of a sustainability consultancy.
