I'm a Master of Public Affairs candidate at the O'Neill School of Public & Environmental Affairs interested in learning more about DEAL and applications of doughnut economics to municipal policymaking. Occupationally, I have experience working in sustainable food systems, tech, and currently, academic research studying local climate policies. Vocationally, I'm a climate justice organizer and member of the degrowth movement.

I am an ordinary person who wants to join in with bringing positive change. I have read the Doughbut Economics book and something lit up for me. I am working with members of my local community from Parish council and local church to see how we could apply the doughnut to our local community, with a view to getting involved with others of like mind in the wider area.

As a strategic foresight practitioner and author, my passion is to help organisations and people to make better decisions for today AND for the future for all stakeholders in the system – the planet and its flora and fauna, our children and their children. I want to help shift the world’s largely short-term thinking to long-term thinking.

As the proprietor of Don Hearn's Cabins my mission is to get everyone to just stop; breathe; reconnect with themselves, their families and friends, their pets, nature and this beautiful blue planet. While they are relaxing, I like to re-introduce them to the feel of sun, surf, sand, breeze, shade on their bodies, the feel of their hands in the soil, the taste and smell of food straight from the garden, the concept of wealth that doesn't mean only money, the amount of needless 'stuff' that they buy/upgrade/service/store, the depth of real conversations around a fire at night, the awe of seeing the stars again, the power of authenticity and compassion and encourage a determination to step off that rat-wheel of unconscious daily 'busyness' and begin to live, communicate and operate in different ways. New guests have no idea what they're signing up for lol - regulars laugh and invite me to their firepit to continue the conversations they now know they need to have!

I believe that business can be a source for collective good. That is what will lead us to healthy sustainability solutions that will serve the best interest of our planet and people. I lead companies that are focused on positive environmental impact, where the work itself is meaningful and the workplace nourishes the soul. am committed to a better world for all of us. That makes me a changemaker and it isn’t for the weak of heart. As a leader, I am in a constant state of listening, learning and strengthening my own courage and resiliency muscles. To make significant and impactful sustainable change, this is needed now more than ever.
