Doughnut Economics is an inspirational text, and I am keen to be part of building it out to change our economy and society. I am the Sustainability lead at SUMS Consulting – we are a not-for-profit membership organisation providing consultancy services to the university sector, mostly in the UK. One aim is to make universities run sustainably and in harmony with their place. Universities are also at the centre of knowledge production and can make big contributions to the paradigm shift through their research, education and ability to bring people together. I hope to learn from this community and share ideas for change – both for my work and for living my own life.

Hi, I am Ted. I am a student changemaker at Frankfurt International School (FIS). I have been part of the FIS Changemaker program since the beginning (November 2020) where a group of students, participated in the JUMP! training to work on their leadership skills. We learned many new skills, which we decided to use to create change in our school and beyond. From then on, we were the FIS changemakers. Initially, it was only me and a group of about 10 dedicated students (and some very helpful teachers) which has now grown to many hundreds! We, realized that we need to go beyond academics and think about community engagement, global understanding and a toolbox for reasonable, feasible and sustainable change. We had to create changemakers, starting at a young age, that could cope with the problems the future generations will face. To achieve this, our first major action was the changemaker conference, action packed with speeches and workshops, one of which, was my Donut Economics Workshop.

As an educator, my personal mission is to prepare the rising generation of business innovators, builders, and leaders to play key roles in the transition to a regenerative economy. In advisory/board roles, I work to apply expertise in design-driven strategy, open/systemic innovation management, experiment-driven decision-making and pilot-stage deployment for regenerative innovation projects. These efforts focus on 4th IR-driven innovation initiatives, SDG-driven bioregional-level development projects and Web3/AI-enabled, DAO-driven innovation in core industrial sectors such as Ag/Food, Energy, Health, Transportation/Logistics sectors, as well as the management of land/water/natural resources and other public goods.

I am a retired MD married to a Malagasy MD. Until 2018, I used to work for the German technical cooperation as a public health specialist in various African countries. I put my focus on the effectiveness, inclusiveness and also the efficiency of basic health services. Sustainability meant for me that these services were able to be maintained after the end of external support. In other words, I focused on the inner boundaries of the "Doughnut" ignoring the growing importance of the outer limits. After retirement, I had more time to read and think "out of the box". My understanding of "sustainability" became wider and more oriented towards ecological aspects.

I am a software engineer and consultant living in Milton Keynes with my husband and family. I am very concerned and sometimes find it overwhelming of where to start with the problems we are creating on the planet and the lack of equality and understanding of equity in the world. I am passionate about helping others learn technology skills. I am a professional and qualified ICT Trainer, Teacher, Coach, and Mentor. I am a member of the Milton Keynes Doughnut Economics Network where we are holding weekly dropin sessions to learn about doughnut economics together, learn about data skills, connect with the community to build a city portrait and network to solve planetary and society problems together. I believe we are living in a friendly universe.
