I founded Reterra as a way to connect businesses, farmers, and communities around projects that restore ecosystems, strengthen rural economies, and create resilient food systems. Hello, I am a co-founder of Emergent Generation - a diverse network of experienced founders, volunteers and young members (18 - 35) working together to build a sustainable farming and food system that nourishes people and the planet.  We ENABLE young people to share knowledge, resources, skills, opportunity, and inspiration. We celebrate successes and ENCOURAGE each other to create or engage in activity that has impact. We EMPOWER our diverse community to build an agroecological food system and regenerative future. We held our first event at FarmED in 2022. We started to show our young audience that they are not alone, and helped them to turn their passion for change into action, nurturing them as individuals and as a community. This is what brought be to Doughnut Economics, which branched out my interests to the other end of the spectrum - basic human needs not being met. I want to go into my economics degree with the right foundations to allow me to learn in the right way, and the book was the perfect start.

I'm Dr. Benjamin, a systems thinking educator and researcher based in Korea, serving on the Leadership Team of the Pre-College Education SIG within the international System Dynamics Society. I served as President of the Korean System Dynamics Society for four years (2017-2020) and have been the President of System Leadership Institute since 2017.  Currently, I'm actively working as a World Climate Ambassador appointed by Climate Interactive (https://bit.ly/3H6IBnQ), facilitating climate change education through systems thinking approaches. Through my climate education work, I've come to believe that addressing climate challenges fundamentally requires a systemic perspective on economics. This is what brings me to the DEAL Community—I'm eager to learn how doughnut economics can complement and enhance systems thinking methodologies in education. I'm excited to contribute my experience in systems thinking education and leverage the K-12 educational networks I've developed over the past decade in Korea. I believe there's tremendous potential to adapt and spread DEAL educational programs through these established channels, helping Korean students understand the interconnections between economic systems and planetary wellbeing. I look forward to learning from this community's innovative approaches and exploring how we can integrate systemic and regenerative economic thinking in educational contexts.

I'm a newcomer to the whole sustainability and regenerative economics space, still trying to find out how I could help. By trade I'm an Embedded Software Engineer working on signal processing and machine learning algorithms.  For a long time, I've been a passive observer in the state of the world, without a clear philosophy.  Recently, when researching a music project, I ended up digging deeper, trying to finally consolidate my world view, as painful as it is to look at the problems ahead of us straight in the face. I found out about Solarpunk, but wanted something actionable that could get us there. I read with interest about the experiments going on in the ReFi blockchain space (e.g. grassroots economics), and finally read books about Doughnut Economics and System Thinking.  These two resonated deeply, so I thought DEAL was the place to start.

I've held leadership roles at SAP, General Motors, and BOSCH (in both Brazil and Germany). Currently, I serve as Director of Technology at Vale, a global mining company. I also contribute to impact-driven initiatives as a board member of Fundo Vale, as an advisor to the Coalition for Impact, and as the co-founder of Match4Action in partnership with CrowdDoing. Kia ora koutou! I've spent the last two decades working as a strategist, facilitator and designer focused on facilitating change. I'm grateful to have built an award-winning career around the idea of going “beyond business as usual”. My work, which has spanned industries and scales, (probably familiar to the other Generalists, Connectors and Conveners out there), consistently challenges how things are traditionally done, in order to create connections, unlock new ways of thinking and feeling and ultimately facilitate decision-making based on different criteria, leading to new and more positive action in the world.  A business activism retreat at Findhorn led me to enrol in post-graduate study in Regenerative Economics at Schumacher College, and then to an MA in Regenerative Design at UAL: Central St Martins. I'm currently scoping my graduation research project, exploring ecosystems of regenerative enterprise and possible transition pathways to cultivate them, alongside my professional consulting practice.

Cultivating Self aligns with the principles of Doughnut Economics by focusing on the well-being of both people and the planet within the context of healthcare; addressing the "social foundation" aspect of Doughnut Economics by aiming to empower and educate healthcare providers and communities, alleviating burnout and moral injury, and improving patient care through holistic practices, cultural and ecological medicines, and reconnection with nature. This directly contributes to meeting human needs like health, a key component of the social foundation, by fostering individual and community well-being beyond conventional medical interventions. Furthermore, Cultivating Self emphasizes regenerative tools, ecotherapy programs, and sustainable practices such as plant-based nutrition implicitly supports the "ecological ceiling" of Doughnut Economics. By promoting a deeper connection with nature and advocating for health practices that are in harmony with the environment, the organization contributes to the broader goal of living within planetary boundaries. Both Cultivating Self and Doughnut Economics advocate for a systemic shift towards regenerative and distributive models, moving away from extractive practices to create a more balanced and sustainable future for humanity and the Earth.

I am an international taxlawyer, based in the Netherlands, with over 35 years of experience in this field. My aim is to study the field of tax-systems as part of (larger) legal frameworks and search for ways to improve or create tax-systems that will systematically support 'Doughnut Economics'. Current tax-systems are based on old economic models (lineair) and paradigms: in providing counsel and policy suggestions, I seek to address the underlying shortcomings in current tax-systems and to offer alternative fundamentals to taxation.  Key words in this respect are:

Alice is Managing Director of Three Fin Consulting and Trustee of The Finance Innovation Lab. She has worked extensively with the UN, charities and financial service providers to create a fairer and more sustainable financial system. Alice began her career at Lloyd’s of London, before shifting her focus to social and environmental issues within the financial sector. As Research and Innovation Officer at the International Labour Organization’s Impact Insurance Facility, Alice worked with insurers to introduce new inclusive products with a range of financial institutions. She since set-up the consulting firm Three Fin Consultants, where she leads research studies, inclusive product development projects, and campaigns aiming to align the financial sector with social and environmental goals. Alice is a graduate of Cambridge University and the Geneva Graduate Institute’s Executive Master in Development Policy and Practice, and holds a Diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute. Today, I build regenerative food systems from the ground up, literally. Blending traditional farming wisdom with tools like Web3, Regenerative Finance (ReFi), and carbon markets, I work to reimagine agriculture from farm to fork. That means creating value for smallholder farmers, restoring the soil, redesigning food supply chains, and helping communities take ownership of their food futures. I've failed.
