Rethinking Economics aims to expand students’ understanding of economics by introducing a wide range of viewpoints, from feminist, Indigenous, queer, and Marxist to environmental, as well as more mainstream approaches like behavioural economics.
These readings, as Raworth does, encourage students to challenge economics itself, develop their own perspectives, discover a love for the discipline, and make new friends. Some books include "Doughnut Economics" by Kate Raworth, “The Moral Economy” by Samuel Bowles, and "Why Nations Fail" by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson.
We also listen to podcasts like the DEAL podcast to discuss.
We meet every 3 weeks at a time the group decides.
