Maputo, Mozambique
On 26–27 August 2025, N’KUMI hosted the pilot training “ESG and Circular Economy in Action: Regenerative Solutions through the Lenses of Doughnut Economics” in Maputo, Mozambique. The program introduced members of AIESEC in Mozambique to ESG principles, circular economy practices, and the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) 4 Lenses tool.
Applying a hyperlocal approach, participants carried out field observations at Polana Beach, a site where unmanaged urban, chemical, solid, and organic waste accumulates. This case highlighted how ESG deficits accelerate socio-environmental degradation and continue to delay progress toward the SDGs.
The training blended conceptual input with applied learning, including a masterclass on environmental preservation, guided facilitation during the field visit, and contributions linking global ESG experiences with local strategies for stakeholder engagement.
The pilot demonstrated how regenerative frameworks can inspire practical, place-based solutions for resilience and sustainability in Mozambique, while strengthening the capacity of an engaged generation of change-makers.
