Alonso M. Acuña
Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, The Netherlands
Alonso is fond of mathematical modelling, AI, software development, languages and music. Two things Alonso enjoys: addressing any problem that orbits around sustainability and programming. The latter he mostly does in python or R but he is a versatile person who comfortably treks across uncharted territories. As a physicist, his research focused on molecules interacting with light. One possible application thereof lies in medicine (photodynamical therapy) but the very same topic also led him to building mathematical models of primary processes of photosynthesis - which plays a potential role as a source of renewable energy. He holds a Masters degree in Physics from the Humboldt University Berlin and a PhD degree in Biophysics from the VU Amsterdam. He currently works as a Data Scientist at the City Council in Amsterdam.

Diana Finch

My background is in accounts management and systems design, and in non-profit management. Since 2018 I've been leading Bristol Pound CIC, and we're now working on what comes after the Bristol Pound. Our future vision is really quite different from the original local currency. We're developing a platform that not only offers a non-profit payment platform for cities (starting in Bristol of course), but then takes people on a journey by introducing them to a range of tokens to help encourage people and businesses to think differently about their environmental and social impact. The basic problem is that countries focus on growing GDP (making more stuff) and companies have to sell that stuff, turning us all into good consumers. Meanwhile people compare mainly on prices which hide the real impact of their choices. We want to change all that thinking!

I'm an architect turned futurist turned strategic designer, leading an action-research team at Space&Matter in Amsterdam. We focus on making the shift towards democratic and ecologically sustainable cities happen by designing prototypes, probes and alternative models to ingrained thinking in the built environment. We favour action but we think first. Get in touch for collaborations on projects, workshops and talks!

Birkdale, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
A husband, father (of 4), professional actor (since 1985), ecological entrepreneur (since 2004), elected representative/local Redland City Councillor (since 2012). I live on Quandamooka Country and pay respect to thousands of generations of elder connection to country, as we seek to make sense of how to sustain life for people in Australia after 7-8 generations of connection to this place. As a creative innovator & fiercely independent individual, I democratically represent ‘the best interests of the majority of citizens over the long term future’, I also respect diversity, equity & justice. I am committed to collective, collaborative, cooperative work in the common interest. Before & since being elected, much of my work as the founder of Arts Evolution (an ecological enterprise committed to pathways that support sustainable human futures) has remained outside public view, yet the core theme relates to our need to orient the ‘self within society’ as we enter The Anthroposcene.
