How can businesses thrive while respecting people and planetary boundaries? Engineer by education, I started my career as a management consultant, helping companies with their growth strategies. About 10 years ago, I decided to focus on sustainable innovation, supporting companies in developing greener, circular solutions. However, I have come to realize that, to address the social and environmental crises we face, we need to go beyond incremental innovation and fix our economic and business systems. Today, I am exploring how businesses can rethink their purpose, legacy, goals, structure, and strategies to help drive the change we need. I am inspired by, amongst other, Doughnut Economics, Post-growth Economics, Purpose Economics, Sufficiency economics, Steward-ownership, Net-positive businesses.... And, I am happy to connect with anyone on these topics.

I have worked with over 200 organisations to help them think differently about their place in the world and how they can become thriving enterprises contributing to a flourishing society. I am experienced in Doughnut Economics and passionate about strategy. A recent project I managed 'Eco-I NW' was awarded 2023 European SDG Initiative of the Year and UK Net-Zero Business Collaboration of the Year. All of my work is driven by action with enterprise, working to help the business community to understand: 🤔 What they do; 🧐 What are the associated impacts of what we do and the climate risks posed to incumbent business models; 😃 How businesses can move towards co-created long-term visions of sustainability via innovations at the strategic, business model, product, service and process levels, in so doing enhancing their resilience to the climate threat. My entire background has been applied work with organisations that range from the European Commission, to global industries such as the aviation sector, multi-national corporations, local authorities, SMEs, and local community groups. I have also covered themes as diverse as climate change, waste management, environmental noise management, communication and engagement between stakeholders and many, many more. In so doing I have developed experience across a range of areas that drive business responses to climate. These include: 👨🏻💼 Project management of multi-million pound projects; 🤝 Facilitation of innovation workshops for sustainability; 🌍 Delivery of real GHG savings and new-to-market products and services; 💬 Communication and engagement of climate issues. To this end, I am a certified trainer in Carbon Literacy and one of 3 accredited trainers in Environmental Management at Airports for Airports Council International - the global governing body for the Airport sector. If you haven't picked up from the above and my posts on here, I have a real passion for supporting the business community in its transition to sustainability, and in helping others to do the same. If you are a business/sector looking to innovate, a professional looking to support businesses, or a graduate or student looking to understand how you can help with any of the above, send me a message to say hello. I have been advising business owners on how to start, build and grow their business for more than 20 years. I also gave them advice on how to sell their business. Upon stumbling on the Doughnut economics book in 2023, I have realized that most of the theory on which our economy is built is flawed. And I have started to question the purpose of growing businesses. I am now trying to reconcile how I can help people achieve their potential and preserve our planet, while building beneficial companies (regenerative and distributive ones). I am also interested in discovering how we can ensure that people find other ways to fulfill the need to feel good inside themselves with more community and less consumption.

Hi! My research focuses on sufficiency-led practices, in both production and consumption contexts. I am interested in the application of the Doughnut at the organisational level.
