Kumu project plan sandbox

Attractive, interactive model of a project plan developed by the Cambridge Doughnut Economics Action Group (CamDEAG)

Kumu is a user-friendly, web-based data visualisation tool for tracking and visualizing relationships. As it turns out, it's also great for creating project flowcharts!

At the Cambridge Doughnut Economics Action Group (CamDEAG), we use this Kumu model to communicate our plans with key partners (e.g. local government) and new members. When new members explore the many ways to get involved, this Kumu model helps them to understand how their contributions feed into the larger project. We also invite new members to consider what might be missing from the draft project plan and adapt it when new ideas emerge.

Have a look and see if you'd like to adapt it for your own doughnut project! https://www.kumu.io/lstabler10/cambridge-doughnut-project-plan-sandbox.

Thank you @BrianDowling for encouraging me to share this Kumu model with the DEAL community and for contributing some of your own bells and whistles.

There are two ways of adapting the model. You can either 'fork' (or create a copy of) the project for your own use, or you can join the sandbox and offer new insights to the model linked above for all DEAL members to see! If you'd like to join the sandbox, please message me directly, and I will add you as a 'project contributor'. Either way, you'll need to set up your own Kumu account (you can sign up for free).

Participatory approach
You might notice from the Kumu model that CamDEAG's project plan relies on a high level of public participation, alongside engagement with powerful decision-makers. This approach is more resource-intensive and considerably extends the project timeline, as compared to the approach taken in Amsterdam.  We've chosen this approach to help raise public awareness and create bottom-up pressure for change and would be interested in comparing outcomes with alternative approaches taken in other cities.

Thank you for sharing this great tool for drumming up local support. If I may recommend that you add a few more steps at the end for the evaluation of the transformative actions, and then a loop back to the beginning so the process becomes an evolutionary cycle.

Happy to help. Hopefully, there is more that we can do. I believe it will help in developing a doughnut for California.
