MK Doughnut Economics Group invite members of the communities of MK to our weekly drop-ins to help us start to 'unroll the Doughnut '. We have begun this by asking the questions: Is MK a thriving and safe place? Is nature thriving across MK?
Come and meet us face to face at the MK:U Innovation Hub, Bouverie House, 200 Silbury Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 1LT, on arrival at reception, ask for Georgina. Drop-in any time between 10am and 12pm. You can email us at mkdoughnut@gmail.com to let us know you are coming, or just drop-in.
What happens at a drop in?
If you are new to Doughnut Economics we explain this different way of thinking about and doing economics.
If you are already Doughnut-aware, we invite you to help us to construct a 'portrait' of MK using this new way of looking at the economy. Help us find a ring of equilibrium where we are no longer degrading the planet but we still support everyone to achieve a sustainable standard of life.
You can drop in for however long you have, even if it is only for a few minutes. You can look through our library of resources which include materials produced by other groups who have been facilitating discussions about Doughnut Economics in their communities. You can have a one-to-one discussion with a member of our group where you can to ask questions, or you can listen to / join in with any group discussions which may be taking place around the table(s).
Our group has begun the discussion with MK Council through the Cabinet Member for Sustainability, and we have begun to gather the data to flesh out a City Portrait for MK. We invite you to bring your experience and knowledge to contribute to our exploration and portrait.
We are lining up some theme-specific drop-in dates, so watch this space for more details or email us to suggest a theme you would like to contribute to.
