California Doughnut Economics Coalition - Book Club (Past)

Book club is a unique opportunity to read and share some information and inspirational conversation on important issues.

About Book Club:
A unique opportunity to read and share some information and inspirational conversation on important issues. The book club is an unbiased and safe forum that opens our minds to ideas and information for a more in-depth look at our world, our community, and hopefully ourselves.

How it relates to Doughnut Economics:
The book club helps us to further connect the dots and think more like a 21st-century economist.

Choosing books:
We, as a group, put forward some options and vote on which one we’d like to read next.  Bring a cup of tea, a glass of wine, or whatever you fancy. The aim of this first meeting is to take a break away from the focused and (sometimes) intense work we are doing. It’s a chance to get to know each other personally while we meander through some interesting chapters. While we learn and grow, it will be a fairly informal, relaxed space and with each meeting, we will check in to see how we need to progress or change.

  • This Month's Book: All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis.  Details on the current reading material below.
  • We are discussing essays from Part 1 - Root.  They are short and delightful.  Feel free to read one or read them all. So far they are all fantastic and worthy.  You can even join us if you haven't read any, we'd love to have you.

Some guidelines:
  • We will all have different levels of knowledge around each subject, let’s all be mindful and respectful of each other’s questions and opinions.
  • We want to spark conversations about books and authors in a fun, fresh way
  • Collectively, we should aim to encourage and support each other in reads from a variety of author perspectives.
  • For those who’d like to volunteer we take turns in facilitating the club.
