Global Donut Day Auroville - Design Our Donut (Past)
Envision and shape practical models for a sustainable and equitable economic future for Auroville
Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
Global Donut Day is when people around the world come together to learn about this idea and work on making it real in their communities. It's a day of action and connection, where we all aim to create a better world by taking care of each other and Earth. It's a collective movement towards sustainable economic practices. It serves as a catalyst to raise awareness about Doughnut Economics and mobilizes communities around the globe to come together, learn from one another, and take tangible steps toward creating economies that are regenerative and inclusive.
We have organised the event to have a vibrant blend of interactive learning and collaborative action. Participants will be introduced to the core concepts of Doughnut Economics, engage in rich discussions about the impact of individual contributions to the economy, and gain insights from influential thought leaders in the field. The heart of the event lies in the hands-on 'Designing Our Donut' activity, where attendees will work together to envision and shape practical models for a sustainable and equitable economic future. It’s an opportunity to share ideas, learn from each other, and leave with a personal commitment to contributing to an economy that cares for people and our planet alike.

Understanding money and the role it plays in our lives has been an interesting area of self-discovery for me since my childhood. When I was 6yrs old, my mom used to give me 1 Rupee everyday for buying sugar candies on my way back home from my school. I realised that while I had that money to buy 5 candies every day costing 20 paise each, not all my friends were able to afford it every day. Understanding why mom was able to give me that 1 Rupee, why she will only give it for me and not for my friends every day, why their moms were not give the same money everyday to them, learning to exhibit the appropriate behaviour and trying to be sensitive to the limitations of my friends were some of the early life lessons that I had in my life. As I grew, my interest in life spanned over and I see running a business is a highly meaningful and a responsible job in a society.

I'm grateful for being instrumental in co-creating various initiatives that shift our culture towards a greater sense of trust, inner connection and community. Presently, working towards developing a support system for entrepreneurs committed to lead with inner transformation through labor-of-love ventures. Since 2016 I've bee living in Auroville - an international community with over 3500 residents coming from 60+ countries aspiring to realize human unity. Prior to that, had worked for over 20 years at the intersection of marketing, technology, digital media and personal finance. With core expertise in product development and integrated marketing, have worked in diverse environments ranging from startups and large corporations to non-profits and government institutions. Also actively volunteering with initiatives like Vipassana meditation, ServiceSpace and MovedByLove. Lots of energy towards co-creating a conscious entrepreneurial ecosystem that is kind and regenerative. Fortunate to be in a community of noble friends who support each other in aligning inner and outer transformation with values of truth, love, integrity, generosity and a spirit of "may all beings be happy".
