The Vermont Prosperity Project
Creating a Wellbeing Economy for All
Our Vision
We envision an economy where we meet the needs of all people within the means of a living planet. We aim to shift Vermont's definition of progress from economic growth (GDP) to sustainable wellbeing. In so doing, we want to design and evaluate our economy by its contribution to our collective and future wellbeing, for both people and the planet.
Our Purpose
To align the actions of public, private and non-profit organizations so that by 2035 Vermont’s social foundations are met for all, within the ecological ceiling of the planet; in essence, Vermont citizens self-report high levels of well-being and our state’s metrics are solidly “inside the doughnut”.
To mobilize Vermont policy makers to solve complex crises (e.g., housing, income inequality, workforce development, climate change) by taking an interconnected systems approach to societal and economic change.
Our Strategy
Spread the Doughnut Economics framework and Wellbeing Economy vision
Raise awareness, develop understanding, and instill passion towards creating transformative change in Vermont, based on the principles of Doughnut Economics and the Wellbeing Economy.
Collaborate with existing changemakers
Connect with like-minded individuals, groups, and organizations aligned with Doughnut Economic and Wellbeing Economy principles, seeking to enhance and amplify their work. We are a network of networks that makes visible what is already happening in the state related to the doughnut economics framework, connects wellbeing economy changemakers, organizes meetups and events and sets impact agendas to make systemic change happen.
Incubate municipal and statewide initiatives
Work with fellow Vermonters desiring to change local policies and create or scale programs/initiatives that contribute towards Vermont living “inside the Doughnut,” strategically driving towards larger, state-wide transformative changes in Vermont.
Adopt and Implement Wellbeing Economy Goals
Work with Vermont Legislators and the Governor’s Administration to adopt Wellbeing Economy Goals and Metrics, Wellbeing Economy Policies and create a Wellbeing Budget for our state.

In May 2025 we launched ChiDEC - Chicagoland Doughnut Economics Coalition, http://chidec.org. Search DEAL for chidec to see our DEAL organization profile. We are organized into four working groups: Data, Grassroots, Business, and Local Government. Creating a Chicago Data Portrait is a top priority project for us.

I’m Vanessa, a Colorado native with a background in technology and project management, currently on a journey to align my career with my passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship. After earning my undergraduate degree in Economics at UCCS and an MBA from CU-Denver, I spent over a decade in the tech industry. While successful, I found myself wanting to make a more meaningful impact. I’m a life-long learner and an ever expanding soul looking for authentic professional connections with a like-minded community. I’m particularly interested in topics like #sustainability, #climatechange, #communityengagement, and I’m excited to connect with others in the DEAL Community who share a commitment to driving positive environmental change!

I am continuously curious about life's deep patterns, resourcing regenerative design lenses and cultivating an integrative living personal and professional practice. A few of the areas of study I am currently passionate about are ancestral healing, resonance tuning, coherence building, biofield science, overcoming legacy burdens, deep biomimicry and permaculture, traditional medicine, paradigm research. I am interested in this community as a practice of reverently weaving individual and collective interior and exterior expression. In infinite gratitude, Jas
