Hi I’m excited to be here and to read about REGEN Sydney which I learnt about as I am reading Paddy Le Flufy's excellent book https://ko-fi.com/s/260585ff4f Which I learnt about through Deep Transformation Network webinar Which I learnt about through a Climate Change and Plastics Facebook page. I live in a small country town in Far Nor th Queensland, Mossman on Yalanji Country. I would say its a sugar cane town but our mill has just gone bust This has followed our harrowing Cyclone Jasper and post flood events. I am keen to see change - good ways - in this space up here. Its inevitable but we are I think isolated from the opportunities which DEAL and such groups can bring. The fear is we may become a ghost town. I love that REGEN Sydney was prompted by the question from Darkinjung Elder, Uncle Phil Bligh - ‘how do we live in this land with joy?’ (the question came via our community member David Beaumont). This wisdom brought me to tears. I moved here from Canberra to work with the Kuku Yalanji and now work for canefarmers. So links with land are strong and tradition in rural communities are known to me also. I am not a big player here but am delving into transformative models in the hope of translating these to those who are invested in land and country as they seek to define the next steps for our town that has done sugar for 130 years. Cheers Jo

I am an Associate Solicitor practising in Trusts, Estates and Tax at Freeths LLP in Oxford. I have long had a strong interest in issues surrounding ESG and the transition to a sustainable future. I feel incredibly passionate about issues surrounding ESG and the intersection between law and sustainability and would like to contribute as much as I can in this area as a practising solicitor. I studied environmental law as part of my law degree and I participated heavily in the ESG department at my previous firm and regularly listen to environmental podcasts, read environmental books and watch environmental documentaries (Greta Thunberg, Kate Raworth, Lily Cole, David Attenborough etc.). I managed to secure an interview with Lily Cole on her book, ‘Who Cares Wins: Reasons for Optimism in Our Changing World’ back in 2021 and was thrilled to be able to interview her when we were in the midst of the pandemic. I used to take the minutes for the ESG department monthly meetings and contributed to various projects that they worked on for COP26. I am also looking into studying an online course/ master’s degree on ESG/ law and sustainability at Oxford University in future. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kate Raworth's book, 'Doughnut Economics' and look forward to being part of the DEAL Community.

I'm the co-author and graduate coordinator of the Design for Sustainability program at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), a trans-disciplinary design program focused on facilitating sustainable change through systems thinking, design strategy, and behavior change. I've authored four books, including one on sustainable packaging, one on design, social innovation, and equity, and a volume of poetry on environmental degradation. I founded Re:Purpose Savannah in 2009, an award winning non-profit organization that facilitates the deconstruction of unwanted buildings and the innovative repurposing of building materials into community-based resources through multi-stakeholder engagement. I'm also Chief Regenerative Officer of 4 Fungi’s Regenerative, a circular economy, region-based food company. I'm on the Board of Directors of Catapult Design, a National Design Award winning non-profit design agency, and member of the Founders Circle of the Winterhouse Institute.

Working on building the infrastructure of intentional communities: housing communities of small, ecological homes with a common house, small farm and renewable energy on site. We envision this mode of living to help lower housing costs, cost of living and increase the sense of community among those living here. We aim to be multi-generational, with the elderly aging in place and children growing up in nature.
