As CEO of award-winning charity City to Sea, I’m driven to transform our take, make waste system into a circular economy where resources are valued and cherished. From period pants to refillable laundry liquid or returnable cups, City to Sea’s work is designed to change the way we shop for good, helping businesses, organisations, individuals and communities to transition away from linear systems. Professionally I have broad experience across environmental, culture, FMCG and retail. My career started out in live music delivering sponsored activations at live music events and festivals. This led to marketing campaigns for big FMCG brands like Budweiser, Britvic Soft Drinks and Jameson. I even successfully launched a new bottled water brand for one of my clients, so I understand brand marketing and new product development alongside the environmental impacts of the market. The rest of my career has been split between culture and environmental sectors, both public and private sector. From leading client services for theatre and music companies to growing the organic market at Soil Association. I’m a qualified marketeer and recently graduated from the University of Bristol with distinction for an MSc in Strategy, Change and Leadership. Talk to me about progressive ways of working, environmental and social justice and better ways to do business.

I’m a sustainability consultant from Germany, now based in Medellín, Colombia, passionate about #CircularEconomy, #DoughnutEconomics, and #SustainableBusiness. I joined the DEAL Community to explore how Doughnut Economics can be applied to local communities and businesses in Colombia. I believe in using this framework to drive positive change, helping to avoid the environmental and social pitfalls industrialized countries have faced. I’m here to connect with like-minded people, learn from practical applications, and find opportunities to bring the Doughnut model into action, both professionally through my consultancy and personally through voluntary projects. Looking forward to exchanging ideas and collaborating!

I'm a project manager and map-maker. I've worked a lot with different types of data, especially in the Open Data space (using data that is publicly available). In recent years this has led me to an interest in sustainability in road traffic systems within Europe and towards sustainability in the more general sense. I have recently managed a couple of sustainable house renovation projects (reuse of materials, improving insulation and recycling building materials) and I'm working on editorial and curating projects in Italy, valorizing the cultural heritage.

Hi, I’m Alejandra, based in Madrid. I’m a French and Peruvian nature lover, raised in Spain. I’ve lived and worked in different parts of the world, as a Strategic & Service Designer at agencies such as Frog design and Designit. After dedicating over 10 years to design and innovation consulting, I've started working as an independent Impact Strategist on projects that create real and sustainable positive impact. I'm part of Informd, a global collective that helps bring balance between people, planet and products. I'm also working on a long-term project to re-imagine the future of education in an ecological school in Peru. I’m seeking to connect with passionate professionals that share the same values. I’m looking to collaborate on projectsand initiatives that create a real positive impact at the social and environmental level. I can bring my expertise on strategy, innovation, design for regeneration, design thinking, facilitation, service design, research, etc.

With a background in agronomy and sustainability, I have been passionate about nature and its preservation from a young age. My work addresses today's most urgent challenges: social inequality, climate change, and biodiversity loss. Believing that humans are both the cause and the solution to these issues, I am trained in Ethical Leadership—leveraging innovation and collaboration to create sustainable value for people, businesses, and ecosystems alike. At Kinomé, I design and lead high-impact projects across Latin America, driving value chains and consulting initiatives. On a global scale, I develop strategic partnerships with corporate partners to bring positive at scale. As a social business and member of the Ashoka network, Kinomé has transformed 2 million lives and helped plant and protect over 6 million trees in 40+ countries since 2005.

My personal raison d'être is to contribute to preserving living beings. Having this in mind, I co-created the collective Udétopia, founded Caminurs and joined Hub Conseil. I live and act in Provence, a beautiful and living place on Earth. As a consultant, I try to make companies, schools, public entities and people change their believes and expectations from economy. Using the Doughnut, we discuss and imagine new perspectives to contribute to planetary boundaries (being regenerative) and people prosperity (being distributive). We then focus on how these perspectives will be sustainable and reachable and transform organizations in order to reach their "Donut aligned objectives".

I hold climate and sustainability qualifications and am expanding my expertise through Terra’s LFA fellowship. Always keen to connect, share, and collaborate on building thriving, inclusive urban spaces!

I want to catalyse action for companies and individuals. Currently working at the company South Pole as a consultant in Environmental Impact Accounting. I'm active in the organisation Climate Fresk since four years, and through which I've facilitated around 40 workshops and held a few trainings. In my free time I develop www.reconnect.earth together with my partner. Even though climate issues lie closest to my heart and even though I've been active in the environmental space since 2008, I increasingly learn about social issues, realising that we need to make sure the transition to a future is by design.

FIX vzw
Brussels, Brussels-Capital, Belgium
FIX is a social enterprise with more than 100 employees. FIX's main goal is to build a quality life through work for people looking for their way in the labour market. It consists of 2 departments: FIX work experience: Renovates schools, youth, culture and sports infrastructure all over the Brussels Region. The works are carried out by low-skilled, long-term jobseekers on temporary work experience contracts, thus increasing their chances on the regular labour market. FIX regular: Akoestiekfabriek: production and installation of circular acoustic panels. All profits are invested in sustainable job creation for people seeking their way into the labour market. We don't have shareholders. With Akoestiekfabriek we tackle the environmental challenges (by reusing raw materials to produce our panels), the societal challenges (by creating sustainable and qualitative jobs for lowly-skilled jobseekers) and a big health problem (noise pollution is the second biggest threat to European citizens, according to WHO).

Himani Dawar

Hey there! I'm Himani Dawar, a business management undergraduate at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, University of Delhi with prior experience in consulting, venture capital, impact creation and finance and current interest in economics (of course :)). Currently, I serve as a Senior Consultant at the SSCBS branch of the world's largest student run volunteer consultancy - 180 Degrees Consulting. During my internships at FICCI and Anthill Ventures, I gained valuable experience in evaluating financial viability, driving startup growth, and identifying key industry trends. At Anthill Ventures, I facilitated strategic initiatives for startups across sectors by analyzing financials, leading investor showcases, and crafting detailed industry reports. Similarly, at FICCI, I assessed global education trends and developed insightful reports on emerging business themes, such as ESG investing and Gig Economy to inform high-level stakeholders. Additionally, in November 2024, my team and I clinched the Global Rank 4 at the prestigious Cornell EMI Corning Case Competition, organized by Cornell University, United States. This globally recognized case competition, organized by the Emerging Markets Institute, Cornell University witnessed participation of 47+ Business Schools from 15+ countries. Our team was the youngest team to be in the Global Top 5 and secured the highest ever rank achieved by an Undergraduate college. When I am not in the business world, you'll find me in the kitchen - experimenting with baking recipes or jogging with my headphones. I'm enthusiastic about engaging in zumba workouts, travelling and exploring new places :) I am eager to contribute my skills and knowledge to the DEAL community and learn from the insights and expertise of fellow members. I believe that Doughnut Economics offers a promising framework for addressing the pressing challenges of our time and creating a more just and sustainable future.

I'm a former Government Economist turned Renegade. Frustrated by mainstream economics I set up Flourish Economics which exists to challenge mainstream economic thinking and explore radical and hopeful alternatives. I try to combine education, community building, research and facilitation to bring together diverse groups to collectively challenge our thinking around success, purpose and our values. I'm planning to work with an intern from the University of Sheffield to start to develop a Doughnut for the Sheffield City Region. If anyone is interested in being part of this work please get in touch. I'd love to collaborate and have as many voices brought in as possible.
