Ex-officer of the French Navy, I dedicated much of my career to managing the risks and compliance exposures of a not-for-profit global organisation. I truly believe in the benefits of a ‘beyond profit’ culture, and am determined, to make a material impact in supporting society’s harmonious development.

I am an octogenarian, active as a volunteer with earth-crisis awareness-raising groups in Cork, especially SHEP Earth Aware and Elders for Earth. We partner with a lot of different groups, for talks, workshops, conferences, etc. Since autumn 2020 we have had a monthly series of talks on Greening Our City, in collaboration with ERI (UCC), Cork Chamber, Cork Green Spaces, Cork Healthy Cities, and Cork Environmental Forum. We plan to devote one of these talks (April or May 2021) to Doughnut at city level.

We have stared a project on own property which includes a small business (soap making) and other projects (nature park 8 HA) alternative energy that aims to develop a micro-economic system based on sustainability and doughnut economics. I am a professional economist but I plan to give up my university career to concentrate full time on this project

I've been an environmental campaigner since reading Rachel Carlson's Silent Spring sometime in the late sixties. I believe we have to provide an alternative vision which will bring about the necessary shift to a sustainable future for the planet. As a graduate of the radical Science and Technology degree course at Middlesex University, a multi-disciplinary viewpoint focusing on the wider issues of the many crises we face in tackling climate change and moving from measures of Growth to measures of Quality of life for the many species of life including humans who are under threat, I am a long standing member of environmental pressure and campaign groups including the Green Party, and recognise that the ideas presented by DEAL offer many insights into ways we can spread the message that in order to act we also have to find workable ways to inspire and involve others.
