Fitting in to the framework of “normal” has never been my goal. I’ve always tried to think outside of the box. As a child I questioned things that just seemed wrong. Like growth. I used to say “Why do prices keep going up? If everything stayed the same, we wouldn’t need growth. Everyone would be happy”. I actually remember talking to my parents about that around age 11. Naive little boy. I wear many hats today. Farmer. Food processor. Public servant. Writer. Plus more. I grow garlic and make honey garlic hot sauces and seasonings under my farm name Oddball Garlic Co. Agriculture has been industrialized to the detriment of the environment. I’m working “with” nature to replicate natural principles, to create a cycle of stages to feed successive organisms as material breaks down. No more plowing and tilling. In a forest, dead material drops to the floor and feeds a self fertilizing system that’s gone on since the beginning of time. There is no waste. Only nutrients.

#new business models. I'm interested to try and use the DEAL approach to a new business we have set up called ME2WE which has been set up to try and shift mindsets. The goal is for people to understanding the importance of diversity leading to unity in order to address the bigger problems in the world. We are initially using eco-fashion to get brand awareness of the logo to drive the interest to learn more. I've been involved in many industries over the years in different parts of the world, but the one thing I have experienced, is that for the most past, the vast majority of people are good people, even though we are led to believe this is not the case. My belief is the good people coming together can do good things with a real purpose. I also want to show this can happen with a for profit successful business that can scale but in the right way. Not bottom line focused but people / planet good focused.

My academic and professional life could be described as a kind of zigzag that pass through several fields of knowledge. At different points, I have been in contact with engineering, business management, semiology, cinema, drama, and design, the field I have explored the most and from where I currently ask and answer questions about how we live, behave and build the future. Some essential queries I would like to try to resolve as a service designer are: How might we approach data, computing capacity and technology to incorporate a more ethical design that looks out for and defend life and planetary regeneration? How might we create mechanisms to avoid technology invading our time and intimacy but still keep using it? What kind of design decisions should I make to prevent technology damage the dignity of human and non-human persons that live, have lived or will live on earth?

I have been a high school environmental science and biology teacher at Prosser Career Academy for 20 years. I try to teach science through the lens of individual health, social justice and global environmental issues. My students have taught me a lot, but I think the most important thing is that without a real caring relationship between people, learning cannot happen. It is personal and emotional, and if it isn’t, then people probably aren’t learning very much. The non profit I run called Chicago Farm Lab allows me to teach authentic, hands-on lessons about plants and animals, ecology, sustainable agriculture, self sufficiency, examples of entrepreneurship in local agriculture and so much more.

I’m a volunteer doing my best to help everyone in our community to thrive, to embrace change for the good of everyone and the planet and to live a happy and sustainable lifestyle. I believe the ideas and thoughts of those living and working in a community are important and should drive activity rather than outsiders who try to make money from our communities and don’t care.

I currently work as a business coach, helping teams and organizations become more adaptive. I've also co-founded and nurtured a meetup group to grow to more than 3000 individuals. I'm interested in fostering Land Based Community employment options. What value exchange options arise from taking a regenerative approach rather than an extractive approach with both land and people? What would it take to attract and guide people to deep prosperity? #regeneration, #permaculture , #cohousing, , #games,

In my current role at Quantum5, I am responsible for supporting businesses to balance profits with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibilities. I lead our global engagement and relationships with the United Nations Global Compact Network Pakistan and provide businesses, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and agencies with customised analysis, guidance, and support to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to tackle #climate change, particularly focusing on reducing inequalities, achieving net-zero, and creating sustainable economic growth. I have also taken the lead in developing a hybrid #SDG and #ESG Assessment tool for the United Nations Global Compact Network Pakistan, using a tech platform for businesses to better understand the UN’s SDGs and to help companies springboard their sustainability ambitions by assessing their sustainability baseline and next steps to drive the UN’s 2030 agenda forward.
