The Institute for Green Transformation (IGT) is an independent think tank based in South Korea, working towards a good life for all within a living planet. Founded in 2013, our work spans urban and subnational transition model building, climate political mobilisation and industrial and financial green transition. By combining rigorous policy research with direct engagement across local government, national policymaking and civil society, IGT translates the doughnut's vision of a safe and just space for humanity into practical, implementable pathways for Korea.
IGT designs climate city models in which green transformation drives local policy and community life, covering city-level climate policy, just transition and social resilience, local energy transition and low-carbon homes, heating and transport. We integrate green transformation into the core architecture of industrial, energy and financial policy, working on energy transition, climate finance, transition finance, green central banking and corporate climate accountability. We also strengthen the social foundations of citizen-led green transformation through deliberative democracy, climate citizens' assemblies, gender-responsive climate governance and community organising, underpinned by strategic communications and institutional capacity building.
