What is LDEC?
The London Doughnut Economy Coalition is a group of volunteers who, inspired by Doughnut Economics, have come together to communicate a better vision for London’s economy, one that is inherently fair, green and also exciting! We argue that as one of the most influential and important cities in the world, London needs to be a leader in adopting better, fairer, and regenerative approaches to its economy.
We are always looking for like minded people and groups to get involved. If you are interested in joining then please get in contact via email or social media, it would be great to have you on board.
What are we working on?
We have 3 main pillars of focus, and will be building activity over the next few years to support each one. We also have a few live projects including:
- London Neighbourhood Doughnut - In Brixton, Old Kent Road and Somers Town
- Harnessing London's Finance
- Social & Ecological High Streets
- London Business x DE

For over 20 years I've worked in social justice, sustainability and systems change. I've worked across sectors and markets including working in India to help set up a social investment fund focused on sustainable livelihoods and mentoring organisation that enable regenerative economies. Recently, I was part of the Catalyst 2030 Secretariat supporting the creation of transformative systems change, facilitating collaborations and later leading the internal operationalisation of the decentralised global network as COO. I founded my company, Deep & Meaningful nearly a decade ago which focuses on regeneration and supporting the movements and organisations that make that happen. DEAL is crucial to regenerative economic thinking and sharing, learning and collaborating with this community is really exciting.

Studied economics at university and the taught the "only available" thesis: free market. Specialised and worked in marketing to then moving into consulting (customer engagement), contributing to further drive consumption. I read Doughnut Economics 5 years ago and it was the first book that really challenged my views about traditional economics. In the meanwhile, I have been observing a big friction between how we want to live (i.e. more sustainably) and how we really live (i.e. consuming more than prior generations). Also, I'm tier of greenwashing. The issue is complex. The solution will require a cultural change (accepting to change our way of living) and a review of the economic system. It cannot be left to the single individuals or the single companies, co-ordinated actions are needed. I don't pretend to find the solution to this conundrum, but I'd like to understand more and contribute as much as possible.
