Fun, fearless, award-winning. Better systems make better people, better people make better organisations, better organisations make better cities, and better cities make a better world. Therefore, Can we co-design and implement ecosystems that create opportunities for people to collaborate better? Yes, we can. Inspired by initiatives such as Doughnut Economics, I am developing a collaborative city ecosystem.

I am an advocate of green urbanism. This modern approach to city planning which seeks to integrate ecological design principles with human well-being holds the potential to make sustainable and socially vibrant cities. This type of planning brings together Doughnut principles and can unite environmentalists, community leadership, and businesses through a shared goal of working towards progressive urbanism. Ultimately, pluralistic cities, based on mixed-use and mixed economies can diminish social problems rooted in xenophobia and 'othering' by encouraging positive community interactions. My research interests are at the intersection of this interdisciplinary field. I work on improving the social interactions and governance problems at the heart of challenges in urban life.

Her current projects represent the culmination of her profound personal journey. Paola began her career in the private sector in Germany as an innovation consultant, later transitioning to the public sector in Medellín. In her role as the open innovation and citizen participation lead at the public science, technology, and innovation center, she spearheaded the groundbreaking Cities for Life program—a network of cities that championed the transformative power of citizen co-creation. This initiative successfully expanded to four countries, Peru, Mexico, France, and Ecuador. Through this initiative, Paola harnesses the power of food to strengthen community bonds, promote health and well-being, and create new employment opportunities. Paola's unwavering belief in the importance of nutrition for all drives her commitment to equity and inclusivity. She passionately advocates for collaborative efforts to ensure that nutrition becomes accessible to everyone, irrespective of their circumstances.
