I have a dream of creating a cooperative with like minded people to start to establish a base of economic power from which to launch more beneficial sustainable and regenerative cooperatives. I am open to all ideas. Personally, I want to create truly beautiful natural/built spaces for communities to enjoy holidays, play, and regenerative nutrition. Coops are a collective endevour but, if it were up to me alone, I feel that this country, with its literary tradition for fantasy and folklore (e.g. Tolkein), should have more fantastical forest villages to inspire children in nature. But that is just my peculiar eccentricity. What could be a better example of a new economy than a game!? At its heart, joy and awe. If this sounds intriguing then please contact me! Anyone who has been reading the CC Science and New Economics knows that the challenges we face are insurmoutable. Nevertheless, I believe an attempt must be made to create an alternative to the status quo. What is life but the joy of the present moment? ...and, what would you rather spend your final days doing, working within the status quo, or nurturing something special? ...personally, I'd rather play games in the woods and give others the means to a healthy and fulfilling life rather than sitting in a dreary office in a smokey city. How did I come to understand the complexity and depth of the climate and ecological crisis? I started out as a Health Scientist. I had made it my crusade to improve the health and wellbeing of children and adults. Unable to find work in health promotion, I retrained as a personal trainer/nutritionist. My plan was to create a business to help children and adults make healthier choices and enjoy their physicality playing in natural spaces. Over time, I read more about the economic roots of inequality, and the looming climate disaster. I am, unashamedly, a rebel and a dreamer. I believe that the world needs folks like us right now! ...so, if you too are a "rebel [or] a dreamer" then please, talk to me! ...what a beautiful world we might create together.

I have recently retired from the World Bank where I held Regional and Global Director positions in the areas of water resources management, water utility reform, climate resilience, food systems and food security, agriculture and irrigation, environmental management, social inclusion, and urban development in virtually all regions of the globe. My recent area of focus, within the broader context of environmental and economic development, has been the practical transition from a parasitic to a mutualistic development paradigm, with an emphasis on operationalizing the circular economy through policy, technology and financial innovation and strategy development. Particular areas of interest and experience include water-scarce cities, governance and institutional reforms in irrigated agriculture, food security and social inclusion, and the interface of private and public solutions to public goods challenges. My publications include several World Bank reports on issues of microfinance, agricultural finance, and natural resources policy, as well as co-authored journal articles and book chapters on similar topics.

I am a #vegan environmentalist working on the Plant Based Treaty campaign. I co-founded Toronto Pig Save with my dog Mr. Bean in late 2010. In the 1990s, I was involved in old growth forest protection campaigns in Clayoquot Sound and the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia. I did a PhD in political studies at the University of Toronto on the topic of green learning, drawing on models from the early American labour movement and civil rights movement and with environmental case studies on the climate crisis and old growth forests. I currently am ED of Animal Save Movement, a global network of chapters in which activists bear witness to pigs, cows, chickens, horses, rabbit, ducks, turkey and other farmed animals at the front gates of slaughterhouses with the aim of encouraging people to go vegan and become activists. I co-authored a book "The Secret Lives of Pigs" (Lantern). I work mainly on policy and system change via the cities and global campaign of the Plant Based Treaty.

I am passionate about the potential of technology to help people to live good lives whilst regenerating nature. A versatile software engineer and data scientist with a strong academic background, I hold a PhD in environmental science and engineering, specialising in carbon accounting and life cycle assessment, bringing a wealth of domain expertise to my projects. Throughout my career, I have driven the development of innovative solutions to measure, model and optimise complex socio-environmental systems. As a data scientist, software engineer, and leader, I have worked on projects to optimise national infrastructure, model cities, simulate organic carbon dynamics in agricultural and urban settings, and calculate supply chain carbon footprints using IoT. I have also been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic teams developing innovative probabilistic modelling frameworks, simulation platforms, and SaaS products. Collaboration is central to my approach and my background enables me to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams combining technical excellence and academic rigour with a strong commitment to sustainability principles. My aim is to inspire confidence and passion for delivering projects with the potential to make a measurable and lasting impact.

Founder: Universal Recognition Movement. Organiser: Doughnut Economics Scotland Network. About Me Hi I’m Rebecca (Becki). I’m a person and planet centred designer and design researcher. I work in the intersections between service, environment and policy design in relationship to social justice and planetary health. I work in civic/grass roots, participatory action research (PAR) and industry settings. My focus is on the role of accessibility (a verb for enabling equitable participation) in how we design and nurture safe economic systems that support the life of people and planet. My practice is led by the Social and money models of Disability. I was Accessibility and Equity Lead to DEAL’s global communities for Global Donut Days 2023 -2024. I am a visiting lecturer in Design approaches towards accessibility, regenerative economics and Social Justice at GSA SIT. I hold a first class M.Des in Design Innovation and Citizenship from GSA School of Innovation and Technology. My design thesis focused on Speculative Design Towards the Role of Accessibility in a Wellbeing Economy. This co-creative participatory action design research won GSA’s Sustainability Prize in 2022. It also helped me to set up the beginnings of the Universal Recognition movement (see below) with other Disabled designers and innovators. Our community is passionate about the transformative power of accessibility for creating safer and more just economic futures. I am passionate about my work as alongside my professional experience I have personal experience of disability. I am invisibly disabled. I am a child of a hard-of-hearing parent and grew up in a lip-reading household as a young carer to my Mum. I was also an unpaid family carer to my Dad during his terminal cancer. This was during a time of extreme austerity cuts to welfare, social and health care in the U.K. Our economic systems needs to support the realities of our loved one’s care, life and livelihoods. How we produce and provide for one another should safeguard society against harm and disablement rather than be the cause. My lived experience and research explores ways we can recognise and design better design economic systems that are fair and fit for our loved one’s futures. Grass Roots Organising & Research As mentioned I am founder of the Universal Recognition movement - a design movement led by d/Deaf, Disabled and neurodivergent campaigners, workers and innovators. Our members work across sectors to help society build better systems and environments that are fit for people and planet. Our work helps to support individuals and organisations to recognise, value and action accessibility within their work and regenerative initiatives. Through improving accessibility we can ensure no one gets left behind in our action towards regenerative economics. Values Design and systems thinking teaches us that how the planet flourishes directly impacts and is intertwined with (much like woodland brambles and wee beasties) how society flourishes too. Our relationships of Disablement, Disability and health are part of our core ecological relationships and sustainable planetary health. I believe we need equitable Disabled and diverse wisdom to re-wild our how we produce and provide for one another (our economic systems) in a similar we as need biodiversity to nourish flourishing sustainable ecosystems. Our economic system will not create safe and fair circumstances for all if ‘all’ are not enabled to safely and fairly create it - improving equitable approaches and accessibility in design innovation, economic and social research is key to this endeavour. Curious about and researching: - The ways we might transform society/the environment/economics to meet folks’ diverse needs rather than trying to ‘fix’ people to conform to a narrow view of society that doesn’t flex to our natural and needed diversity. - How our economic systems both enable and prevent equitable economic participation - How we start to collectively enable more than we disable all life within how we produce and provide for one another #Accessibility #CoProduction

Strategist / Executive Advisor / Speaker My mission is to explode outward the boundaries of what is perceived as achievable for organizations, entrepreneurs, and leaders in such a way that enlivens purpose, drives performance, inspires engagement, and connects to global citizenship. To this end, I work with governments, NGOs, private sector businesses, entrepreneurs, change-making teams, and individual leaders. What I love to do is complex problem-solving, strategic direction and design, operational execution, leadership development, and high stakes crisis resolution. When a city needs to regain control over a public health crisis, when a private sector company needs to reinvent itself against headwinds of innovation and competition, when an entrepreneurial org needs to determine its business and/or financial and/or talent strategy or succession-planning strategy, or when a high-value leader aspires to make a greater impact while finding greater fulfillment and building a legacy, I like receiving the call to serve. My commitment to principles, starting with ethics and integrity, inform all my life’s work. I hold myself to a high standard, and strive to create results and deliver service with excellence. I’m a strategist, advisor, critical thinker, consultant, public speaker, trainer, facilitator, coach, and partner. The labels don’t quite fit snugly, so perhaps an assortment of hashtags might better communicate how I might be able to serve you:

I am studying economics, sustainability and social design as part of my master's degree. As part of my master's thesis, I am applying the Donught Economy to the planning of a city district. To ensure the attunement of the citizens I also use elements of Future Literacy. In my spare time, I advocate for Degrowth by spreading permaculture micro-gardening in urban spaces for more food sovereignty. In addition, I have been campaigning for a job guarantee in the social-ecological sector at European level for the last 3 years. In this context, I have published a study in cooperation with several NGOs across Europe.
