Listening to Kate Raworth at the launch of Architects Declare in 2019 was a pivotal moment in my life. Since then I have become an activist in the built environment, focusing on retrofit as a way to build social justice in our societies. I'm a coordinator in the Architects Climate Action Network, and have worked alongside others involved with DEAL including the ever inspirational Civic Square, Dark Matter Labs and others to deliver Retrofit Reimagined, a festival that took place in Birmingham in summer 2022, which was another pivotal moment in the direction of action in this space.

My background is as a STEM specialist, working in science discovery centres and museum organisations. I have helped establish the community-driven Makerspace Adelaide with a focus on sustainability and circular economy principles. I have a passion for education and critical thinking. I'm currently part of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield libraries as a STEM Specialist, developing and delivering community Learning programs and overseeing the Parks Library Makerspace.

After obtaining my two Master’s degrees in Business Economics: Marketing (Ghent University) and in Sustainable Management (Uppsala University), I am ready to put theory into practice and to keep learning. I began reading the book this week, and I am so pleased to read it. As a classically trained economics and finance major from 25 years ago, I never liked the lack of a "price" for externalities - I recognised then, as I do now the real social cost of these. So I am so happy to be a part of this community, and I want to help spread the word. I was hoping someone had taken the content and made it available on a creative commons type platform to share it, and for more ideas and communities to be created from it. And here it is! So very please!

I studied urban management and development with a specialization in Economics and a master's degree in Urban Management, Sustainability, and Climate Change.  I possess a holistic approach that enables me to analyze, develop, and address challenges in a unique manner. With seven years of experience in diverse fields spanning the private and public sectors, I have gained a comprehensive perspective. Throughout my career, I have worked on various topics, including sustainable mobility, socio-economic and financial assessment, risk assessment, project evaluation, research, urban planning, and sustainability from different stakeholder viewpoints. This breadth of experience equips me with a well-rounded approach to tackling challenges, problems, and projects. Two years ago, I made the decision to pursue my dream of acquiring further knowledge in the field of sustainability. This led me to choose the Netherlands as the destination for my master's studies. Embarking on this path required a considerable leap in my professional journey, and while it was not an easy decision to start anew, my dedication to contributing to the creation of a more sustainable world remains unwavering.  Upon learning about the DEAL community and the specific role it offers, I was immediately captivated by the prospect of bridging the gap between theory and practice. Recognizing the significance of collaboration with key stakeholders, including businesses, cities, academia, and citizens. I consider that it is imperative that we take actionable steps to reduce adverse impacts on the environment and cultivate awareness of the planet's limits. This awareness is crucial for informing decision-making processes on a global scale, all from a sustainability perspective.

After 20+ years in corporate strategy consulting and the tech business, I progressively switched my mindset and practices to supporting organizations in their transformational journey towards eco-social-compatible models. 🍩🌍 I am very inspired by the Doughnut Economics concepts and theory and as an action-oriented person pushing for transformative change, I enjoy guiding organizations through their journey to embrace regenerative and distributive dynamics, thanks to the powerful tools developed by the DEAL. I am an experienced facilitator and trainer of several Fresks (playful, collaborative, and creative workshops that raises awareness on several environmental and social issues) such as The Climate Fresk, The Planetary Boundaries Fresk, The Regenerative Economy Fresk, The Agri-Food Fresk, The Digital Fresk …  I am engaged in several local initiatives around regenerative economy in my local area (French Riviera in South of France) to bring these concepts and theory into practice, via experimentation at community level.   I am delighted to join this rich and inspiring community to engage in meaningful conversations, learn from you and share insights and practices.

I am a Ph.D in Economics. I am working as a Ph.D Lecturer at Ege University, Turkey. I am also an volunteer at Olive Academy, which is a part of Zeytince Ecological Living Support Association. Main research areas are political economy of industrialization,  and   and of course . I am very interested in being a part of the Deal Community because the concept of Doughnut Economics is highly appealing to me. I am highly motivated to conduct further research and projects in this area, and I believe that this community greatly contributes to these interests. I hope to find intellectual exchanges that will further advance my current research and projects at DEAL, as well as potential partnerships for future endeavors.
