Why I started
I first came across Doughnut Economics after watching Kate Raworth’s TED Talk and later diving into her book Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist. The idea really stuck with me — building an economy that allows everyone to live well without pushing the planet beyond its limits. It felt like a vision of balance that the world badly needs. 🌱 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=talXb1wiEFY
After that, I wanted to understand what Doughnut Economics looked like in real life. I joined a few workshops and online groups focused on regenerative cities and sustainable living. Through the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL), I learned how to use their tools to map how local projects fit into the “doughnut” — where social well-being and ecological care meet.

I also worked with a few peers to apply the model to our own community. We asked ourselves: How can our city grow in a way that respects both people and the planet? You can read more about that project here: https://masterpeacero.wordpress.com/2025/02/17/coeur-courage-project-doughnut-economics-city-portrait-workshop-at-c-n-mihai-viteazul-high-school/

What I learned- Economics isn’t just about numbers or GDP — it’s about how people thrive. Everything is connected: the environment, society, and the economy all shape each other. Real change begins locally. Cities and small communities can experiment, inspire, and lead before national systems catch up.
