School Interactive Doughnut Assessment Tool

An interactive, browser-based self-assessment tool that adapts Kate Raworth's Doughnut Economics framework for individual schools and multi-academy trusts. It walks users through all 21 dimensions of the doughnut — 12 social foundation dimensions (e.g. wellbeing, equity, community voice) and 9 ecological ceiling dimensions (e.g. energy, waste, biodiversity) — using a series of straightforward yes/partial/no questions tailored to a school context.

As questions are answered, the tool generates a live visual "doughnut" diagram showing where the school currently sits: falling short of the social foundation, overshooting the ecological ceiling, or operating within the safe and just space. Each dimension also comes with a written rationale (why it matters, local school context) and a "consequence chain" linking local decisions to their wider global impacts, referencing sources including Raworth (2012, 2017), Fanning & Raworth (2025, Nature), and the DEAL Quick Participatory Doughnut Portrait methodology.

Practical features include full school branding customisation, a traffic-light overview panel for at-a-glance results, session save/load (as JSON, so an assessment can be paused and resumed), and one-click PDF export of a full dimension-by-dimension reference guide for staff or governors.

It's designed to make the Doughnut Economics framework — usually applied at city or national scale — practical and self-contained for a single school or trust, without needing external facilitation.
