Doughnut Economics About DEAL DEAL Team Careers FAQ Principles & Guidelines Wider Movement Contact UsLebrusan Studio is a leading ethical jewellery brand specialising in engagement rings, wedding bands and one-of-a-kind bespoke commissions, crafted in the UK using a selection of sustainable materials. Its mission is to change the world one gram of gold at a time, using jewellery as an active force for good.
Behind the eponymous brand is Arabel Lebrusan, award-winning jewellery designer, leading visual artist and key founder of the ethical jewellery movement. As one of the world’s first ever Fairtrade Gold licensees, she utilises her platform and designs to talk about care and justice and to strive for a jewellery industry that is fair, transparent and sustainable in the long term. As a founding member of Fair Luxury, a ground-breaking campaign group, she speaks publically about injustices within jewellery supply chains – from her own TEDx talk on ethical jewellery to her place on the committee behind the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust’s Ethical Making Resource.
Honing years of rich experience, Arabel Lebrusan’s designs today are the timeless heirloom jewels of tomorrow, conceived to be cherished by generations to come. Each encapsulates a distinctive mix of cultural, historical and aesthetic influences, including Lebrusan’s Spanish roots.
Guided by the Doughnut Economics framework, Lebrusan Studio’s goal is to operate in a way that doesn’t exceed the scope of our planet’s environmental limits, whilst also ensuring that the human beings involved in its supply chains have their fundamental needs tended to. For this reason, it’s committed exclusively to precious materials that are minimal in environmental impact – such as recycled gold and reclaimed diamonds – or maximal in socioeconomic benefit – such as Fairmined Ecological Gold, fair-traded coloured gemstones and artisanal Ocean Diamonds.
As a member of the National Association of Jeweller’s Created in the UK scheme, 100% of Lebrusan Studio’s jewels are brought to life locally, championing traditional British craft techniques like hand-engraving in London’s famed Hatton Garden.
The brand also lends its resources to a number of charitable endeavours, including quarterly donations to The Water Project and a pledge to plant 10 new trees for every piece of jewellery sold.
Originating as a clicks-only business with a small but loyal clientele, Lebrusan Studio is now available by appointment in two physical locations – the iconic London Diamond Bourse and Brighton. The brand’s membership to the London Diamond Bourse only furthers Lebrusan in her mission to bridge the gap between luxury and sustainability, altering deep-rooted perceptions of how the jewellery industry should look.
A respected figurehead of the ethical jewellery industry, Arabel Lebrusan and her brand have been recognised with a number of accolades – from a place on Professional Jeweller’s Hot 100 in 2013 to the NAJ’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year award in 2022 and Jewellery Designer of the Year award in both 2017 and 2022.
