I'm a problem solver and a dreamer. I studied biology at university driven by a fascination to understand the world around me. I became interested in the genetic and biochemical factors underlying important societal challenges like plant disease and food security. My PhD drove me away from the unsustainable environment of research. I've since worked in research funding, large engineering companies and small tech startups. I've taken some time out of work to work out how I can better apply myself to a more fulfilling mission. I'm curious to learn and experiment.

My name is Ann-Kathrin Bernauer, I study sustainability management (M.Sc.) at University of Wuppertal, Germany. Currently, I am writing my masterâs thesis, which covers social factors of mobility. I am looking for new opportunities as a changemaker. There is a lot of research making clear that greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced in the transportation sector in order to limit global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial level. It exists less research regarding social factors in this context. I would like to analyse social impacts on a walking and cycling focused transportation strategy in urban areas (e.g. Copenhagen, Amsterdam). This, I am analysing from the perspective of the doughnut.Â

I have completed tertiary studies in Marine Science, Environmental Science and Sustainable Development. My career has been in the Government sector, particularly fisheries management. I read Kate's book and got so inspired - I think her work could really help natural resource managers to get better social and environmental outcomes. Would love to hear from others who are using doughnut economics (or thinking about it!) in similar contexts.

A husband, father (of 4), professional actor (since 1985), ecological entrepreneur (since 2004), elected representative/local Redland City Councillor (since 2012). I live on Quandamooka Country and pay respect to thousands of generations of elder connection to country, as we seek to make sense of how to sustain life for people in Australia after 7-8 generations of connection to this place. As a creative innovator & fiercely independent individual, I democratically represent âthe best interests of the majority of citizens over the long term futureâ, I also respect diversity, equity & justice. I am committed to collective, collaborative, cooperative work in the common interest. Before & since being elected, much of my work as the founder of Arts Evolution (an ecological enterprise committed to pathways that support sustainable human futures) has remained outside public view, yet the core theme relates to our need to orient the âself within societyâ as we enter The Anthroposcene.
