I am a driven individual with a strong foundation in Economics, eager to apply academic knowledge into real world challenges. As a student pursuing a Master's degree in Economics, I am driven by a profound interest in both economic policy and research. This fascination stems from a firm conviction: well-crafted policies have the power to significantly impact the economic well-being of nations, regions, and even the environment itself. I am particularly drawn to the field of policy analysis, where the bridge is built between theoretical economic concepts and their practical applications. I love to solve problems in a creative way. I look forward to opportunities that include Public Speaking and Interaction. I have an eye for solving challenging problems and can lead a team optimistically.

Hello everyone, I'm thrilled to be a part of the DEAL Community! My name is Retaj Kherrazi, and I hail from the Netherlands. Since 2022, I've been passionately dedicated to climate action, both domestically and on the international stage. My mission is to drive tangible change that accelerates the transition towards a more sustainable and inclusive society. In pursuit of this mission, I founded Justpalmit.com, a platform aimed at fostering awareness and action on environmental issues. Additionally, I'm actively involved as a Kinderreporter with Amstelkids, where I engage with young minds to inspire environmental consciousness from an early age. Moreover, serving in the Kinderraad of the Gemeente Amstelveen allows me to advocate for sustainable policies at the local level, ensuring that our communities are actively involved in shaping a greener future. I'm particularly interested in topics related to renewable energy, sustainable development, youth empowerment, and environmental education. I believe that by working together and leveraging our collective knowledge and resources, we can create meaningful change and pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come. I'm excited to connect with fellow members of the DEAL Community, share ideas, and collaborate on initiatives that drive positive impact. Together, let's make a difference! #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #YouthEmpowerment #EnvironmentalEducation

I have been advising business owners on how to start, build and grow their business for more than 20 years. I also gave them advice on how to sell their business. Upon stumbling on the Doughnut economics book in 2023, I have realized that most of the theory on which our economy is built is flawed. And I have started to question the purpose of growing businesses. I am now trying to reconcile how I can help people achieve their potential and preserve our planet, while building beneficial companies (regenerative and distributive ones). I am also interested in discovering how we can ensure that people find other ways to fulfill the need to feel good inside themselves with more community and less consumption.

Stuart Brown
Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, United Kingdom
Retired international development consultant with experience of 44 countries. I specialised in policy implementation planning, for which an awareness of resource constraints and preconditions for sustainability was (a) essential and (b) unpopular with my beneficiaries. (One minister in a certain country had me dismissed from my post for daring to suggest that he lacked the resources to implement his national environmental strategy.) In particular I addressed water and environemntal management policies and implementation strategies, also related trade aspects of two of the EU's free trade agreements (Moldova and Vietnam). Most of today's capitalist thinking is predicated - knowingly or not, makes no difference - on the false assumption that financial and other resources are unlimited. I am a passionate advocate of joined-up thinking and coherent policy. In my retirement I am a full-time composer and a trustee of two charities.

Hi all! I'm designing a social change platform and trying to navigate a startup journey avoiding the finance traps that could hinder my governance aspirations, whilst simultaneously wrestling against the advice and attitudes that all the typical startup communities promote. I've championed B Corp and other models for years, but nothing has resonated quite so much as when I first heard Erinch speak about Doughnut Economics at Purposefest in Bristol last year, and everything I've seen/heard related to it since then utterly magnetises me (please don't invite me into a DE cult if one exists because I would quite likely join...) I'm super keen to immerse myself in these discussions and ideas to put me in good stead to build an organisation that has the most wonderful impact that it can. I'd also love to connect with some people whose eyes don't glaze over when I avidly discuss my dream governance model, or my reservations about using AI, or that I really don't want to maximise my profit by taking advantage of some loophole etc etc! But more than anything I think I just need to be part of this community to remain hopeful that there is a way through this devastating planetary overshoot and social shortfall situation as it is today.

For five years I have specialized in the development of sustainable tourism by obtaining a PhD from Erasmus University in 2022. I am now putting this expertise into practice. I work with governments, marketing organizations, and tourism companies on sustainable change - always supported by a scientific basis. Much of my research has revolved around regenerative tourism using the doughnut economics model as a tool. Between 2020 and 2022, I developed workshops based on doughnut economics and applied them to a tourism context. Together with seven urban destinations in the Netherlands, we investigated how the model can be used in tourism to facilitate a sustainable transition. The research has been published and can be read in the journal Tourism Geographies. The title of the publication: Urban tourism transitions: doughnut economics applied to sustainable tourism development. After my period at Erasmus University, it was time for a change. I traveled by train to Austria to spend a month walking in the mountains and thinking about the future. After my defense in December 2022, I moved to the Spanish countryside (Asturias) to build my sustainable dream life there, including a large vegetable garden and food forest. In addition to my work as a freelance researcher, writer, and advisor, I spend many hours here sustainably renovating an old house and creating an edible garden.
