I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Language and Culture under the Media and Documentation Science Research Unit at University of Tromsø - The Arctic University of Norway. As a member of the research group LAMCOM - Libraries, Archives, and Museums in the Community, I am focused on studying the essential role of cultural and innovation diplomacy towards LAMs' learning environments in providing educational, economic, and social opportunities to the civic public. I am currently teaching a course on HIF-3113 Libraries, Archives, and Museums for Sustainable Development at University of Tromsø.

 I am Vaani Garg, an enthusiastic 2nd -year college student pursuing Economics Honours . I am driven by the will to create a student-led start-up whose benefits would accrue to society. I have spent 10 years of my childhood living in the countries of Mozambique and Tanzania. This cross-cultural experience has widened my perspective on diversity inclusivity and has created an interest of mine to interact with people from different places to know their cultures better therefore I enjoy taking part in MUNs and debates because it brings me to the interactive and exciting world of research, innovative solutions, and negotiations. It also helps me relate to the real world through an Economic approach. I currently aspire to make a career in Public Policy and International Economic Development. I vision myself as working in institutions like the World Bank and United Nations. I am open to writing economics based research paper that would aim towards making a positive and a helpful impact on our society. What brings me to this community is that I work in my community for climate and economic action. I started a low-profit limited liability company to continue my work as a "permaculture developer" which is a planning and development approach to applied permaculture and design thinking. I am an activist that is committed to social innovation and I have a fierce ecological imagination. I have been writing and practicing "regenerative leadership" the best I can since 2007.  Being an ancestor that did something is a deep edge and I work on my own healing there, as part of our collective healing. This is the scale where my leverage is the greatest and my capacity as a facilitator expands. I have navigated the local governance structure and funding opportunities, (not always has my work been funded) to offer a program that started a week ago, as 207permaculture.  The day that I signed a contract with the State of Maine to provide services to three municipalities and one school district, for one year, to activate a network that will learn together and act together on climate and economic projects in the region, I saw The Schumacher Institute talk by Kate Rawworth in my email box.  After the talk, joined my action co-lab would be well served to use these tools. The intergeneration and interdisciplinary group of leaders that gather will be approaching their town leadership and the State's Climate Action Plan Program Director with a vision of a thriving rural bioregion, and request support for their action plans. It is my hope that they will spinning off several other social innovations, educational pathways and businesses as well.   I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Southern Maine, a MA in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle at Bastyr University, Advanced Permaculture Design Certifications, Soil Food Web Lab Certification. I am a Mom, a friend, a sister, a partner, unwed, a home cook, a future ancestor, a grant writer, a group facilitator, an educator and an serial entrepreneur. My pronouns are she and her.

# Tom Webb is a political economist who has had a varied career as a welfare worker, an adviser to two Canadian cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister, a consultant, a senior manager in a large co-operative, Director of the St. Francis Xavier University Extension Department.  In the St. Mary’s University Sobey School of Business he oversaw the creation of the English speaking world's only Masters level co-operative management degree located in a business school.  He has more than 35 years involvement with co-operatives and credit unions as a board member, manager and consultant.  Mr. Webb has been a speaker at co-operative events in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and India.  He is currently Adjunct Professor at Saint Mary's University, was a key organizer of Imagine 2012: The International Conference on Co-operative Economics.   He retired from teaching in 2019 but still supervises Final Research Papers, writes, works on co-operative public policy proposals, and researches. Doughnut Economics was part of the curriculum for co-operative managers.  In 2012 he organized Imagine 2012: The International Conference on Co-operative Economics.  Currently working on a film about co-operatives and the economy.

Columbus, Ohio, USA

Paul Carlson founded the non-profit reEarth in 2020 that works on smart and sacred water initiatives in NW Ohio. He is a board member for the non-profit Simply Living and Resurrecting Lives Foundation that helps veterans who suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries. He was a member of the US Transition Collaborative Design Council from March 2020 until March 2022 and serves on the Green Spot Advisory Board for the City of Columbus.  Paul worked for seventeen years as the city’s first IT Project Manager. He was responsible for facilitating the city being recognized as the 2015 Intelligent Community Forum, Most Intelligent Community in the World. He worked closely with The Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research, Autonomous Vehicle Pilot project, that was sponsored by the NIST Global City Team Challenge and he was part of the core team that responded to the first phase of Columbus ultimately winning the $40M USDOT Smart City Challenge. Paul was also a member of Mayor Coleman’s Green team and helped Columbus become certified as a four STAR sustainable community.  Paul attended the US Naval Academy for two years (Class of 1973) and received a BA in Political Science in 1976, and an MA in History in 1978, from Youngstown State University.

Tom Stanton officially retired at the end of June 2022, when the National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI) closed permanently. Tom had been Principal Researcher, Energy and Environment, at NRRI since fall 2010. NRRI, until its closure provided regulatory policy research and educational services for agencies responsible for public utility regulation in the 50 states and U.S. territories. Mr. Stanton specialized in policy research for distributed energy resources, energy efficiency, renewable energy, grid modernization, and climate change.  A life-long resident of Michigan, Tom previously worked for Michigan state government for over 32 years, including 10 years at the State Energy Office followed by over 22 years as a member of the Michigan Public Service Commission Staff.  Mr. Stanton has been an instructor in both in-person and internet-based NRRI training events and related workshops or conferences in over a dozen states and multiple countries.    Mr. Stanton earned a B.A. in Communications and M.A. in Journalism, both from Michigan State University, and an M.S. in Public Administration from Western Michigan University.

I founded Wylde Connections with my daughter with the aim of helping businesses embed sustainability in their companies and operations. We are both passionate about biodiversity as an underlying theme in our work, which is often not on the sustainability radar of most companies. I am also a founding council member of the International Wildlife Coexistence Network.  Wylde is also a learning organisation and we are in the process of developing and launching online courses about embedding sustainability in businesses. We are advocates of Doughnut Economics and spread the word whenever and wherever we can through our consultancy and education and training practice.

Dr Shashi Kad, is a Sustainability Professional, founder and CEO of SAGE Sustainability, a leading consulting firm in India, and co founder Ease Reg Tech, an LLP focussed on social justice in the organisations (focussed on gender equity).  I am an alumna of Environmental Change Institute, SoGE, University of Oxford.  Our consulting firm prefers to hire women who have had a gap in their career (by design). Our 100% full time employees are women.  We believe in 'doughnut economy model'  and were so inspired by the model and Kate's book as that validated by own inner sense of mistrust for mainstream economics. This book was a sigh of relief as I was struggling to understand the world. Thank you Kate.

Gamal Sherif is a passionate advocate for green schools that conserve energy and water, improve air quality, and foster sustainable practices, justice, and joy. He believes that the world is abundant, and that intentional strategies for environmental justice can improve the quality of life for all people now, without compromising the needs of future generations. Gamal’s commitment to green schools started in Philadelphia when he served as a history and science teacher. Since then, Gamal has served curriculum director, principal, and consultant the Center for Teaching Quality, the National Science Foundation, and the Pennsylvania Green and Healthy Schools Partnership.  Gamal’s expertise is in program design and implementation. As a Program Manager with EcoRise, Gamal worked with educators, students, architects, and engineers to advance green building education and certification, professional development networks, and summer internships.  Gamal has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from SUNY-Binghamton. Gamal earned a Masters in Teaching from Temple University as well as a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Since 2012, Gamal served as a Fellow with the U.S. Department of Education, and in 2017, he became an Ambassador with the United Nations #TeachSDG's program. Gamal is also a credentialed LEED Green Associate and Climate Change Officer.

Hi!! I believe the Doughnut is an inspired tool which could be used to give local answers to global challenges.  I created the Doughnut Model for Gijón as part of my master thesis. However, wider views and further analysis would have to be included to bring real change. I am looking forward meeting people interested in accomplishing this task, and to make Gijón and their citizens thrive in the path.
