I invest in 1) rural Colorado startups and 2) employee ownership transitions. Getting here has exposed me to tons of models for capital entrepreneurship. I write a newsletter (blog.innovative.finance) to share my learnings and partner with other GPs to help them realize their version of a better future.

Curious global netizen. A Master of Science from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. In my career I have worked with the introduction of computers in research libraries, where I was Director of the Bibliographic Institute at the Royal Library in Stockholm. At that time I was also deputy project manager for the LIBRIS-project at the Swedish Agency for Administrative Development (SAFAD). I then moved to the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS) where I had different positions and where I participated in international standardization within ISO of quality and environmental management. Thereafter I facilitated ISO-workshops for developing countries during the development of the ISO 26000 Guidelines on social responsibility and I am now following the transition of companies to a sustainable business sector in accordance with the principles for Environmental Social and Corporate Governance (ESG)- principles.

After 10 years working on international sustainable development in the nonprofit sector, I came to realize that the problem and solution lies in transforming the corporate sector. After 20+ years in the corporate sector leading sustainability and impact investing teams, I came to realize that changing corporate behavior is important but insufficient. What is needed is a full redesign of the larger economic system we are a part of; we need to align our economy with living system principles. For the last few years, I have been on a learning journey to uncover how to accelerate the transformation to a regenerative economy.

Alison Jose (Joe-s) leads Global Circular Network (GCN), a groundbreaking Digital Product Passport EPR Platform featuring RFiD THREADS®, the world’s first washable, bulk-scanning RFID embedded in a single thread, which stays with each product to deliver full, collaborative circular economy (CE) solutions. Alison serves on the CIRPASS-2 Expert Working Group and partners with Nordic Circular Hotspot to drive CE initiatives forward. With over 9 years of experience in textile supply chains as the founder of STSC Sustainable Textile Supply Chain, Alison has worked with mills in India, Indonesia, and China to promote sustainable textile production. After receiving a NSW EPA grant, she pioneered Australia's first Circular Textile Waste Service in 2020, marking a significant milestone in her shift toward the circular economy. Global Circular Network connects brands with the resource recovery sector, enabling B2B collaboration, product traceability, verifiable authentication, and lifecycle data that support usability, durability, and recycling. RFiD THREADS® empowers brands with real-time data, expediting product circularity and inter-industry inclusivity and equity. The tool helps brands increase ROI through returns, resale, rent, repair, and repurpose, with recycling and regeneration as the final stages. RFiD THREADS® connects both new and quality-recovered products to the cloud platform, supporting a variety of sectors, including apparel, footwear, and mattresses. The system seamlessly can integrate with a brand’s SCM and then becomes open-sourced to engage “R-Cylers”, sorters and recyclers to support data capture, product longevity, resource recovery and a financially sustainable circular economy. A unique QR Code for B2C enhances engagement and education, connecting EPR and Product Stewardship Schemes to holistic circularity. The tool and EPR platform can connect products to Doughnut economics through LCA platforms. It can add opportunities for consumers and brands to divert funds to doughnut incentives. Purposefully designed diversions can support local and global economic initiatives including Project Drawdown microgrid projects that directly lower emission hotspots for this industry and support people and planet. Industry participants are encouraged to join the 100 Million Threads Project and attach donough economics platforms via a "digital bridge". Our aim is to assist redistribution of capital as we capture lost revenue from the new reverse logistics value chains being created. Especially connected to the EU's Cirpass-2 mandatory legislation requiring textile-based products to include a DPP showing it meets the Eco Design for Sustainable Product Regulations by 2030. https://www.globalcircularnetwork.com STSC Eco Textiles and CircStretch eco-stretch knit textiles for Activewear www.stscecotextiles.com

Alviya Maria John
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Alviya Maria John is a passionate book lover and great admirer of literature with a never-ending thirst for books and stories. Her world revolves in the pages of novels where thoughts are given shape by words, and imagination is limitless. A devoted reader, she finds solace in the great works of Paulo Coelho, enthralled by the depth of his philosophy and the magic that he wove around his narrative lines. Cold coffee is her ever-present companion, fueling both her late-night reading marathons and her own creative pursuits. Beyond literature, Alviya is an economics student who is very interested in research and policy analysis. She studies complex economic issues, especially those regarding development and health economics. Her enthusiasm for academic inquiry propels her to question, analyze, and contribute to larger discussions in her sphere of learning. With a passion for deep research and publication, she continually looks at opportunities to bridge theory knowledge with practical impact. Her journey as a writer extends beyond storytelling, documenting and analyzing the critical socio-economic challenges that society faces. Whether through literary expression or rigorous academic research, Alviya is committed to shaping conversations that matter, making her mark as both a storyteller and a scholar. She is thrilled to be part of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) where she get to explore how economics can make the world a better place while staying within the boundaries of the planet's resources.

I am a core member of ClimateHealers.org. In our efforts to help humanity embrace the vegan lifestyle holistically, we are developing new systems aligned with expanded consciousness. We have found an ally in the economic system of Doughnut Economics. I am interested in exploring this more and welcome the opportunity to volunteer.

I retired one year ago after working in the tech industry and nonprofits, often launching first-of-its-kind products (smart phone, touchscreen) and implementing systemic change (for example, bringing healthcare and community-based organizations together for better whole-person care).

I live on Cape Cod in a coastal rural town. I currently serve as Chair of our town's Energy and Climate Action Committee. I first learned about Donut Economics from a climate activist course I took with the Pachamama Alliance. The next step was to buy Kate Raworth's book and learn more. It's an exciting economic concept.
