I am retired having spent 40 years in the electronics industry holding roles as Engineering director and Business manager. I have 4 children and four grandchildren whose future I worry about, as our economic system and disregard for our environment is leading us to a future that is projected to be far inferior to the one I have experienced. I have been actively involved in the climate issue for the last 7/8  years presenting talks and workshops and I am co-founder of  the climate resilience  centre Worthing.

My name is Isabel, I am 23 years old and I grew up in London, UK. I graduated from Leeds University with a first class degree in BA Geography and Economics (International). My core interest lies in Urban Geography, particularly the fields of Urban Futures, Urban Design and Urban Social Movements, and how those from marginalised identities might better assert their right to (remake) the city in their own vision.  I think DEAL is a great framework for mobilising people in different contexts by taking a local focus but at a global scale. I want to get involved in different DEAL initiatives across the world to gain a better perspective on how these tools are used to mobilise communities and encourage multi-stakeholder collaboration. We have a lot to learn from each other and I'm really excited to join the DEAL community :)

My academic and professional background includes experience in molecular biology, microbial ecology, wildlife biology, sustainable forestry and most recently environmental policy and planning. What fascinates me the most are the dynamics of coupled social and natural systems and the collaborative interdisciplinary teams and transdisciplinary approaches to address pressing environmental and social challenges. My research and teaching aims to understand human impacts on the environment and how communities negotiate the values inherent in efforts to achieve sustainability.

With the world facing urgent climate and social challenges, he is particularly interested in leveraging entrepreneurship and impact investment to create inclusive and sustainable communities.

I am an academically trained environmentalist and sustainability professional. I provide strategic advisory services on sustainability, environmental law, ESG, non-financial disclosure, circularity, sustainable supply chain, and safety transformation to clients across various sectors. With more than 20 years of experience in this field, I have successfully delivered complex and impactful projects that enhanced the environmental, social, and governance performance of organizations and contributed to their long-term value creation. I am also passionate about environmental writing and natural history commentary, and I have co-founded Exploring Nature, an organization that promotes biodiversity exploration and information dissemination through social media and e-magazine. I have authored three books and multiple research papers on contemporary sustainability and environmental justice issues, and I regularly teach industry EHS professionals and future sustainability professionals in association with various national premier academic institutions. My mission is to inspire and educate people about the importance of environmental protection, conservation, and sustainability in the context of global challenges and opportunities.

I am an economist, impact entrepreneur, and consultant with over 20 years of experience working with large organizations in both the public and private sectors. My expertise lies in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), where I have provided consulting and training to help organizations navigate complex challenges and achieve their goals. I see sustainability as the core of risk management, where both threats (negative risks) and opportunities (positive risks) are integral to creating long-term value. As John Adams once said, "Every problem is an opportunity in disguise," and this perspective is central to my approach—transforming challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth and resilience. I named my company Bright Phoenix because the phoenix symbolizes resilience and transformation—qualities I help my clients cultivate as they rise to meet today’s challenges. Learning about the doughnut economic model was a true eureka moment for me. As I delved deeper, I realized I’m not alone—several others in the DEAL community have also expressed similar revelations. The model encapsulates my mission: to guide my clients to operate in the sweet middle of the doughnut—within planetary boundaries while respecting societal needs—ensuring their businesses thrive sustainably. What brings me to the DEAL community is this shared vision. I am excited to contribute my experience as a strategist, systems thinker, and storyteller, while learning from others in this inspiring network.
