What is LDEC?
The London Doughnut Economy Coalition is a group of volunteers who, inspired by Doughnut Economics, have come together to communicate a better vision for London’s economy, one that is inherently fair, green and also exciting! We argue that as one of the most influential and important cities in the world, London needs to be a leader in adopting better, fairer, and regenerative approaches to its economy.
We are always looking for like minded people and groups to get involved. If you are interested in joining then please get in contact via email or social media, it would be great to have you on board.

What are we working on?

We have 3 main pillars of focus, and will be building activity over the next few years to support each one. We also have a few live projects including:
- London Neighbourhood Doughnut - In Brixton, Old Kent Road and Somers Town
- Harnessing London's Finance
- Social & Ecological High Streets
- London Business x DE

Currently a full time #carer. Previously many things from #socialenterprise founder (mapping, connecting and regenerating eco-systems), global social impact consultant/mentor e..g. _SocialStarters, User Experience (#UX) researcher, workshop #facilitator/trainer (design thinking, social enterprise (e.g. On Purpose), games for autistic teenagers), start-up mentor (e.g. RSA), started a #PhD in Immersion/addiction in computer games (UCL), nominated to be a local #councillor, and an #ecommerce developer/account manager. I sometimes play computer #games/VR, especially when recuperating from a bad bout of #M.E/CFS which I've had for 25+ years. Love walking and exploring #forests in all kinds of places.

I am a student with a keen interest in sustainable development. I am looking to see how I can truly apply myself to the problems that really need solving in this world and would welcome any and all guidance on how to do so in the context of my current school student life.

Hi everyone, I'm a 33 year old Learning Disabilities nurse who moved to London from the East Midlands to study nursing. I've been working within the NHS since I qualified in 2018 and currently I work for a community learning disabilities healthcare team, although I spent the majority of my time since qualifying, working within Forensic Mental Health in inpatient and community settings. While I understand working as nurse could seem fairly removed, throughout my training and during practice I've seen how health inequalities as a result of politics and the socio-economic make up of our country, directly effect the most vulnerable people in out community. Since I've started reading more about Doughnut Economic theory, I've appreciated so much more about the interactions of current economic theory and the state of inequalities in the UK and further abroad; and I want to get more involved in doing something to help change things for the better.

Doughnut Economics is an inspirational text, and I am keen to be part of building it out to change our economy and society. I am the Sustainability lead at SUMS Consulting – we are a not-for-profit membership organisation providing consultancy services to the university sector, mostly in the UK. One aim is to make universities run sustainably and in harmony with their place. Universities are also at the centre of knowledge production and can make big contributions to the paradigm shift through their research, education and ability to bring people together. I hope to learn from this community and share ideas for change – both for my work and for living my own life.

Hi 👋 I'm John, I'm based in Finsbury Park. In 2022, I launched London Undergrowth, a peer-to-peer learning org that explores ideas like regenerative economics, biomimicry and systems thinking. We run public events, including Doughnut Economics workshops, for the local community
