First Doughnut Meetup - Otaniemi, Finland

The first doughnut economics meetup in Otaniemi, Finland happened on 11.11.2025 🤩

Students, professors and interested residents from the Espoo/Helsinki city joined to discuss what it means to bring the Doughnut into practice in our neighborhood/city.

The "Step Into the Doughnut" and "Sparking Connections" tool were used together in a 2-hour workshop to introduce people to the concept of Doughnut Economics. The workshop ended with a roundtable discussion around next steps for Doughnut Economics.

Here's what we came to agree on regarding next steps:

- Create a Finland-wide sustainability/doughnut network that amplifies existing projects and unites all of us sustainability people
- Build a website/make visible our work 
- Other things (having a fully outdoor course, finding funding, having better onboarding processes, etc)

As of December 2025, we are mapping initiatives around our locality and see where they fit onto the Doughnut.
