40 days of Doughnut Flow (Time To Land)

A short story how I got into the rabbit whole of Doughnut Games, looking at the world differently now.

A year ago I knew the Doughnut Economics just vaguely as a title and I would never guess it will take 40 days of my life.

The "Doughnut Economics" book got into my hands only recently, and it was a revelation

After 30 pages I already saw it as a big game with boards, cards, tokens, mechanics, negotiations and players dancing around it all.

And then I just couldn't stop myself from translating the book into a big-scale game, no matter the costs.

I see it like a huge spaghetti, each string [each action card in the game] weaving connections between every possible pair of fields in the DE system, and it keeps growing and adding new strings constantly.

Perhaps the whole design process is infinite perhaps, but I still have a feeling to be of a clear mind while writing this story :)

The game is called TIME TO LAND and I already published it as a tool, but it's still growing with content.

I want to sincerely thank the DEAL team - Rob and Carolina - who welcomed me with enthusiasm and invited to present this process on DEAL events online already twice.

I keep what I said - I wish to share this adventure with other educators, I'm happy to visit DE events and play it for you, I don't care to be paid, it's a non-profit and non-project adventure!

So far, next steps lead me to York, UK:

We will present the game on the Play For The Planet 3 gathering (24 April 2026) and later play the full game later in the Sustainability Clinic (27 April 2026).

If you live in UK, it's close :) Would you like to come and play?

Hope we can meet in person one day!

And I cannot be more grateful to Kate, who wrote the book so inspiring that I disappeared from life for 40 days, but it was exciting days of creative flow I will never forget.
