Alepochori, Arkadia, Greece
We are a family (Athena Lamberis (Lampiri) & Christopher D.Z. Mason based in Arkadia, Greece within a chestnut, pine & oak forest and acting as stewards on land we are regenerating - applying food forest and permacultural practices as an educational farm and area to further the education of ecology and our human-nature connection in innovative and creative ways. My husband, Chris and I come from educational, film and creative writing backgrounds with experience in living on the fringe of wild spaces, such as the ocean coastal river mouths in Nicaragua, the Cape Point peninsula of South Africa and now in the ancestral land of my grandmother's village, Alepochori, Arkadia. We want to be a part of a network that considers social and environmental interconnectivity for a more thriving and inspiring future for generations to come. We have a 5 year old daughter and want to help foster a community of young people who understand their actions and the impacts it has on a larger scale for living plants, creatures and natural resources on the planet.

Hi 👋🏼 I'm Alex and I live with my young family including three cheeky chickens in a small town in Gippsland. I love spending time in nature, especially hiking at Wilson's Prom. In a previous life I taught corporate English in Spain and developed teaching material for books and an online language platform. Now, as the Community Lead @ Regen Gippsland I'm looking forward to connecting with the DEAL community 🍩 and putting Gippsland on the map 🌏

I am an student of 3th semester of PhD. on economics at the Economic Research Institute of National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My research is about biophisical limits of mexican economy, but I have a strong interest to develop a doughnut economic model for Mexican economy. I would really love to receive guidance in this regard. I had worked on climate change since 2007, mostly on GHG mitigation actions and GHG inventories using GHG protocol and IPCC guidelines. I worked for 8 yearsat the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC), I and I was part of the team that developed the Fourth and Fifth National Communications, and First BUR for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). But it was right after this job that I realized I had to know economics, and I did a master's degree in economics at the same institute. I believe that economics has led humanity in actions and thought, and if you want to make a proposal, it should go in that direction. I am also taking the second module of Common earth and I can contribute to this network everything I know about ecological footprints, carbon footprints, emissions inventories and systems thinking, as well as what will result from my research.

I have been an Architect for over 25 years. Designing award-winning buildings built upon principles of immersive stakeholder engagement and evolving sustainability practice. Simultaneously managing, and ultimately selling, the business. Now I’m confronting the question of whether we should be constructing less, or even nothing, in the face of climate breakdown. In 2024 I aim to explore that question and establish whether a business based upon that mission is viable, whether for myself or a larger cooperative group.

My foremost passion is organising people for power, reviving grassroots democracy. I firmly believe this issue is at the heart of most challenges facing society today. I’m a former Mechanical Engineer with Project Management experience. I’ve worked with national and local campaigns on issues of global and social justice on a variety of issues. My recent focus has been community organising on social housing estates in South London and now co-ordinating communities and campaigns in developing genuinely affordable community-led housing throughout the city.

I am 47 years old, studied business administration in Mexico, then studied an MBA in Barcelona, and worked for over 20 years in things that I hated, just maximizing profit. In 2018 my life came to a turning point, probably the midlife crisis, and I started questioning everything. Why am I working here? Why am I living here? What is my purpose in life? Is this the life I want? Is making money my only purpose in life? One thing lead to another and all this questions made me aware of the planetary crisis we are in. I decided that was something I really wanted to get involved in. I made that my purpose in life. But when I started exploring it, a whole universe opened. I had no idea what I wanted to do. So I started studying, reading and experimenting a lot of new things. Permaculture, agro ecology, bio construction, systems thinking, community resilience, I worked in a couple of NGO’s looking for something that I really loved, believed in and wanted to put my life into. Then I found the transition movement, started reading Rob Hopkins, took the transition facilitators training program, and that really resonated with me. I feel that at the core of our multi crisis there is a lack of imagination from our end (the majority), and a necessity of maintaining the status quo for a minuscule minority. I also feel that other main issue we need to work on is our disconnection with Nature. I LOVE Nature. I am Nature. We are Nature. So that is other issue I am getting involved in. Reconnecting myself to Nature and being of service to others to reconnect with Gaia. So, at the moment I am taking an online course with Gaia Education and in march I am taking other two “in person” programs. My intention is to become a trainer and be of service to others in feeling and re connecting to our Mother Earth. I will be collaborating with a community in San Cristobal to hold space for these re integration with Nature process. I also feel a profound calling to imagination, to re imagine new worldviews. As Albert Einstein once said, in times of crisis imagination is more important than intellect. So I started reading a lot in the subject of imagination, collective imagination, futures thinking and participatory futures (IFTF), social imagination, Rudolf Steiner, Michael Meade, Ken Robinson, Octavia Butler… I would love to learn, to imagine together, to be of service, to imagine a future for every living being with no one left out. Let me share with you what I have been imagining, visualizing and feeling is needed. I feel we need physical, local, safe spaces to create community to practice our collective imagination and futures thinking. Not only a temporal workshop or gathering. Most of our “third places” have been displaced by shopping malls and consumerism. We need to create spaces where imagination is practiced, where we can create community, art, myth, share our visions and our grief. Play, imagine and create together. At the same time we need to be connected to all that is going on around the planet. To all the imagination, the creativity and visions of the future. To share our knowledge so we can create collective wisdom. I feel we need to create physical local spaces all around the world with interconnected sharing of all that is learned and of all the possibilities being imagined and created. What worked, what did not, methodologies, reading material, personal and group learnings (gold), visions of the future, signals and drivers…
